A. C H. Stephens Vark 4th of July Celebration
It was a great day at A. H.
Stephens State Park. They
started off celebrating the Fourth
of July with the Park Parade and
then on to fun games. The big
hit was the Park Ranger water
balloon event. The families were
fabulous. A big thanks to Sheriff
Tia McWilliams and Smokey
of Taliaferro Fire Department/
Emergency Mgt. Thank you for
celebrating with them.
Greensboro First Presbyterian
to host hymn Shout-Out
That special something at a community Shout-Out.
Psalm 66 says, ‘‘Shout for joy to God, all
the earth! Sing the glory of his name.”
First Call Pregnancy Center to host
Shoe Drive Fundraiser
Drive-Thru
Drop-Off
That is exactly what The
First Presbyterian Church
of Greensboro will be doing
Sunday, July 21 at 5 pm, and
EVERYONE in our community
is invited to attend this joyous
event. The church will be hosting
an old-fashioned Hymn Shout-
Out...also known as a hymn
sing...and we will be using the
old Cokesbury Hymnal to praise
God and give thanks.
Everyone attending is asked
to find one of their favorite
hymns in the Cokesbury Hymnal
- a hymnal used by previous
generations of fellow believers
- and “shout out’’ that hymn’s
page number. After everyone
in the congregation has a few
moments to turn to that page,
everyone in attendance will
make a joyful noise and sing
that hymn together as one body.
Please join us on Sunday,
July 21 at 5 pm as we joyfully
pay tribute to God and to those
who have gone before us as we
sing traditional hymns - hymns
that were so meaningful and
precious to our grandparents
and those who came before
them. If your heart longs for the
hymns of old, this is an event
you will not want to miss.
The First Presbyterian
Church of Greensboro is located
at 117 South Main Street (next
to the post office) in downtown
Greensboro.
The community is invited to
clean out their closets for a shoe
drive to raise funds for FIRST
CALL PREGNANCY CENTER.
Donations of gently worn, used
and new shoes will be accepted.
The amount of money raised is
determined by the total weight
of the shoes collected.
All donated shoes will be
redistributed to micro-enterprise
partners through Funds20rgs, a
for profit social enterprise, and
used in developing nations for
impoverished people to start
their own businesses.
Shoes need to be dropped
off on Saturday, July 13,
from 10am - 2pm at First Call
Pregnancy Center, 1531 W.
Broad Street, Greensboro.
In the US alone, over 300
million pairs of shoes are
thrown away per year. The
materials used to manufacture a
pair of shoes are created from
chemical compounds that will
create health hazards if left to
disintegrate openly or in landfills.
By donating your gently worn,
used and new shoes to FIRST
CALL PREGNANCY CENTER,
your shoes are given a second
chance to make a difference.
