At a recent session oftheSouth- ern Methmlist conference in Rich¬ mond Va., the following ministers were elected bishops: Rev. Dr. Josephs. Key, of Maccon,Ga.; Rev. Eugene R. Hendrix, D. I)., of Mis¬ souri; Rev. Charles B. Galloway, D. D., of Mississippi and Rev. William W. Duncan, D. I)., of South Carolina. There were fifteen men we under¬ stand got together last Sunday evening at the court house and one of them asked the crowd where the ten cominandents were; of course as is usual with non bible readers all went to guessing;one man guess¬ ed Revelation and St, Matthew &c. West, of Macon, who is so well known as a musician has been engaged to furnish a mixture of string and cornet music for the above picnic Saturday; which is a guarantee of the best music that has been in this section in a long while. Last Wednesday was set a part for a picnic at the tank between here and here and Buena Vista by the good people of that place, who had nicely prepared everything for a good time and invited our citizens and young folks generally to join them, hut all day Wednesday the rain decended and consequently no one went. Thursday they came down to the tank hut not liking the appearance of the A-eather came on to Ellaville. Our people were not apprised of their coining but did ail they could to make their stay pleasant. Hon. W. D. Murray tendered them free of charge his hall, where some en¬ gaged in skating, others went to the croquet grounds some went out to witness a game of base ball between the Buena Vista boys and our boys. Our boys had not played since last summer anil only played this time to make the time of visitors pass off as pleasantly as possible. Sunday School Convention. The Schley county Sunday School Association held its third annual convention in the M. E. church at Ellaville, May 22nd, 188(5. The ex- j ! ercises were opened by song, Ail Hail the Power of Jesus name. A j very fervent prayer in behalf of Sunday schools w as ll.t offered by | Rev. J. T. Lowe. The convention then united in the song of praise, Glory to God in the Highest. After followed scripture reading from 11 th chapter of Deuteronomy by Dr. €. H. Smith. Next in the programme of exercises ca,ue the addreM of welconie ’ which was very appropri¬ ate to the occasion and ably deliv¬ ered by Col. I. N. Mott in behalf of the respective schools of Ellaville. The above address was responded to in a very feeling and impressive speech by Dr. J. A. Park in behalf of visiting schools. The convention again united in a glorious old anthem upon the strains of which the spirits of all seemed wafted above the things of time and sense. Rainey and Will Horn- ady, said committee to report at two o’clock p. m.
