Ths Fort Valley Loader, referring to
the bill now pending for a revision ot
the electeon law of Georgia, says:
“In the interest of an honest ballot

T e A ti-Barroom Bill.
The liquor dealers, and others who
opposed to vhe anti—Barroom hill are n
ginung to realise that there is strong
probability Of it passing the House and
Senate. The dry counties are already
largely in the majority there being
dry to 27 wet counties. Prominent men
if tho State are of the opinion thai
chances weie never more favorable than
at present for some radical
legislation. Those whe do not faver
bill argue that the revenue from
whiskey business which amount to^OSO,
000 would l>e lost to theshool fund if
tall should past. But tt is a well known
fact that nine million dollars are spent
anually iu Georgia for whiskey
the srle and let this magnifeent sum be
devoted to the cause of education and
there will be no need of incaeased taxa
tion to keep up the schools.
Charity of Speech.
Charity of speech ‘s as divine a thing
as charity of action. To judge no one
harshly, to misconceive no mans motives
to believe things as they to be until the'
prove otherwise, to temper judgement
with mercy—surely this is quite as good
as to build up churches, establish i .ay
lutmand found colleges. Unkind
do as much harm as unkind deeds.
Many a heart has been wounded beyond
cure, many a reputation has been stab
bed to death by a few litlle word«. There
•s a charily which consist in withholding
words, in keeping bacq harsh fludge
inents. in abstuing from speech, if to
ir ak is to condemn. Such charity hears
the tale of slander, hut does not repeat
t: listens in silence, but forbears com
ment: then locks up the unpleasant se
cvet in his very deprhs of the heart'
Silence can still rumor. It is speech that
k eps a story alive and lends it vigor.—
