The Stars of The City Cast Their Bril liant (?) Raya over This Rural Region. The well advertised show made up the‘'best talent of Americas'’ according to the local papers of that city, gave a performance at the hull Friday evening to an audience of perhaps seventy-five people 1 A great many others would have been present but for the fact that they discoveied in time that EUaville fi H d been imposed upon und remained m home. Shortly after the curtain went up it was very evident to the audience that the performance was arranged for neither ladies or gentlemen, but unfor tunately a number of the best had been deceived into buying tickets. Our people have always entertained a ve ,.y high opinion of /Vmerieus and have p| eilse) j fp t | that we were in close touch with her people. We have felt that much was to be gained from associating with those who natur ally enjoy superior advantages to ours, ami when it was understood that we were to be favored with an entertain ment by the "best talent of the town’ every one prepared to give the visitors a cordial reception. No one thought it necessary to question the character the show that came in the name of suen a reputable body as the A L I was supposed to be. but in future it will be deemed very important to make an investigation before opening our hall, which has been dedicated to that only, which is elevating and ennobling. It may bo that being remote as we are from the high civilization of the city, <>ur people have not been educated (?) up to an appreciation of this show gotten up by the "best talent of Ameri cus,” but we congratulate our people on possessing enough purity of thought to scorn that which is coarse and vulgar. The indignation expressed bv those who present with their and . were wives daughters indicates a healthy sentiment in our town. We undeistand that there is much complaint from the performers, of the heavy expense incurred and from the number of bottles left behind we do not doubt that some of the bills were very heavy, but Eliavibe is in no way re sponsible for this condition of affairs. It is charitable to say that some of the young men were hardly responsible for their conduct on the stage. Iiad they paid less attention to popping the corks behind the scenes we are quite sure they would have been more considerate of the Judies and gemltmen present. Our people can appreciate wit and humor, but be it said to the credit of an EUaville audience the coarse jokes and vulgar allusions gotten off fell fiat. But for t tie storming of those brought along for the purpose, a painful silence would have reigned over the hull. TEAC H ERS EX A M IN ATION. A little work in the way of cleaning up the grove would give us one of the prettiest parks in the state, and it would require no outlay of money, only a little time. If Capt Burton will give the town permission to make this improvement, we doubt not that our citizens will enter heartily into the work. —The Westfield (lnd.)Ne-ws prints the following in regard to an old resident of that place: "Frank MoAvoy for years in the employ of the L N A many used Cham – O Rv here, says: •1 have berlain's Colic, Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy for ten v ears or longer—am never with out it in my family. A man who seems to be a football on the field of bad luck is nine times out of ten a great deal better than those who are kicking him around, and the follow ing good advice from the Monroe Adver tiser should make us more considerate of this unfortunate class. "Don't kick a man be cause he is down. Many a good man has been downed nv adverse circumstances arid driven to dispair because everybody seemed anxious to kick him while he was down, when a little encouragement and a iittie help would have mane a better man of him than he over was before.” It Is The Best On Earth. Co. Twenty Years.... For more than twenty years we have been telling: how Scott's Emulsion overcomes the excessive waste of the system, puts on flesh, nourishes and builds up the body, making: it the remedy for all wasting- di seases of adults and children, but it isn't possible for us to tell the story in a mere stick ful of newspaper type. We have had prepared for us by a physician a little book, telling: in easy words how and why Scott's Emulsion benefits, and a postal card request will be enough to have it sent to you free. To-day would be a good time to send for it. SCOTT – BOWNE, New York., A beautiful monument to the confed erate dead was dedicated in New York Saturday.
