We have recieved of Col. J. C.
Huilc, General Passenger Agent of
the Central of Georgia Railway,
an elegant folder that shows the
location of American Army posts
in Cuba and gives a great deal of
information about the island and
its people. “Where they were” is
the title of an illustration on the
cover, showing the troops in camp
on American soil, and “Where
They Are” is another illustration
that shows a company fording a
stream on a march in Cuba.
The streets presented quite a
busy appearance Saturday. Num
bers of people w-ere here from the
county and the merchants did a
good business.
Tomorrow is St. Patrick’s day
and all loyal Irishmen in Ellaville
will wear the green and celebrate
accordingly.
In a recent letter from Washing
ton, I). C., to an old friend, Major
G. A. Studer, for twenty years

The eleventh annual session of
the Georgia Chautauqua will be
held in Albany 7 , April 2nd to 9th
inclusive. A very interesting pro

We had a few fair days last
week, and the farmers put in some
good work.
Some say that the peach crop is
killed, but the good old seedlings
are in full bloom.
County School Commissioner,
Hon. J. M. Collum, came down
Monday,
Miss Lula Strange spent a few
days with Mrs. E. W. Strange in
Ellaville last week.
Miss Annie Dixon visited rela
tives and friends in Americus
Saturday.
Mr. T. R. Strange and Misses
Eva and Lula Strange visited
Americus Monday.
Airs. R. S. McGarrah is on the
sick list this week, we hope for
her speedy recovery.

Mr. Lewis Hill made a business trip to
Ellaville Wednesday.
Mr, E. T. Lightner made his usual
business trip to Ellaville on Saturday
this time.
Messrs Homer Lightner and H. T.
Bridges spent Sunday in Macon county .
I could not tell you at what place for
they would not tell when they got back
home.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Moulton, of Lowe,
spent Sunday with home folks.
Mrs. Lawrence Hill of Stewart’s mill
was a visitor here last week.
Miss Appie Watson of Howard was
the guest of friends here last week.
Mr. Henry Stewart was the only visit
or out at the school house Friday p. M.
Come out and see us, we are at work for
that is our motto, and we will be glad to
have you come.
The farmers of this section were very
busy last week and this, trying to get
ready to commence planting, but they
will be behind the usual time of plant
ing by ten days this spring, but I do not
suppose they need to hurry for it is like
I heard an old gentleman say not long
ago that you could not make but one
crup in a year no way you could fix it.
The recent cold wave killed down
most of the gardens that had been sown
since the freeze of Feb 12, and as far as
peaches are concerned we are not going
to have any in this section of the county.
