A Big Fire. Much excitement prevailed in Ellaville Monday afternoon about 2 o’clock when the fire alarm was rang. The colored Baptist church, where a school was in session was discovered on fire, having caught in the roof from a defective flue and had gained considerable head way when discovered. The church was burned to the ground in 30 minutes, the pupils and teacher barely had time to remove desks and books. The church was a very substantial building and its loss falls heavily on its members. The pulpit, an elegant one for a negro church, was saved. To restore the clear skin, the bright eye, alert gait and sound health, u§e Dr. M. A. Simmons Liver Medicine. John Henry Mott returned to his home at Goggins Sunday. Constipation of the bowels may be easily cured by a few’ doses of Dr. M. A. Simmons Liver Medicine. Specials to Readers of The Schley County News. Kleckly Died Saturday After a Short lUnaas. Everyone was shocked Saturday afternoon to learn of the death of Mrs. J. H. Kleckly, which sad event occurred at her home on Broad street, after a short illness. Two weeks ago she was taken ill and continued to grow worse every day in spite of all that could be done by the skill of the physician and tender care of loved ones to combat the disease. Mrs. Kleckly was forty years old, and has been a member of the Baptist church for twenty-five years, an earnest Christian woman, and was greatly beloved by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, and four children, to whom the heart felt sympathy of everyone is ex tended. The funeral services took place at the Baptist church Sunday afternoon at 3:15 o’clock. The attendance was very large. Rev. N. R. Sanborn conducted the ser vices in a ver >' able and impressive manner. Quite a large number of relatives . and friends , sorrowing followed the remains to Eliaville cemetery, the place of interment, to pay their last tribute of respect to the one who was so highly loved and esteemed. They have laid her body “in the earth,” and loved ones will bedew the grave with tears and plant it with flowers. But the spirit is not there, heaven is its resting place, and the bright, fair mansion is all the brighter and fairer for the precious soul just received within its glowing portals.
