In traveling about over the coun try, as we have done to some ex tent lately, we find no section greatly superior to our own state, Georgia,—the Empire state of (he South. And Schley county is the best part of Georgia. Our water is ; as pure as that of the mountains. I Our skies arc as blue, our soil as ! fertile and our breezes as health giving. Out people are as brave, honest and law abiding as any to be found in the world. Our wives and sweethearts are better and prettier than anybody’s, while our boys arc as good as those of other folks. We can grow almost any product known to the* temperate zone. We are hospitable and neighborly and would make noth- j ing by exchanging with any folks under the sun. If our town and county would only wake up and ; do the best their circumstances 1 allow we would be just the best section of the world. The Tennille News comes to us in new form—8 pages 4 columns. The News is indeed newsy and . neat. Trox Bankston’s West Point— Lanette News is before us. It is an 8-page, 5-column, all home print paper, and is bright and breezy. Trox is a dandy, anyway. Truth crushed to earth will have a good chance to prove its resilient qualities when the situation in China clears up. A Mrs. Joy, of Chicago, who was a Miss Schwi/.kocswitchski, has sued for divorce. So far as known, however, she has not asked for the restoration of her maiden name. The Goebel law is bad enough, but don’t forget, brethren, that all its vicious features are found in the plan of the city government of Philadelphia, only they are repub lican outrages there and democratic ones in Kentucky. Now comes the wise editor and warns people against taking shelter under trees during thunder storms and thereby running the risk of being struck by lightning. Yet, its dollars to doughnuts that the afore said wise editor would go under a tree in a minute rather than spoil his new straw hat. And on the theory of probabilities he would be entirely right in doing so. —The laws of health require that the bowels move once each day and one of the penalties for violating this law is piles. Murray Musings, We have been having fine rains for the past few days making our crops look • considerably better. While our corn is not altogether as good as it was last year we think our cotton will come up with last year. Pea crops of all kinds are fine. Sugar cane doing well. Mr Z. 1 ’. Mott may look out as we have got some fine patches over here. Wouldn’t do for us to beat him after him saying all the vear what he was going to do. Will some one suggest a plan upon which to run our syrup contest the coming season. Speak out through the paper. Mr. G. A. Ilill and Will of Irakelly, returned Sunday from a weeks visit to relatives in Worth county. They report craps very good and a fine time, Several people above here were disappointed Sunday on their way to Mt. Zion church in Macon county as they missed their big dinner but got a good wetting and had to turn around and go back. Now, Mr. Editor, in regard to the paragraph left out last week, will say, I didn’t intend it as an adver tisement at all, as I never thought of such a thing as that, it was al together my own doing. Mr. - never said anything to me «ibout writing up his business, nor I to him. While it may have sounded to you that way. I will see to it that he subscribes for his county paper anyway, as I don’t like to be called a correspondent for our paper with my hands tied. Again I don’t ask you to vary from your rule. The work of moving the big printing-press plant of The Ladies’ Home Journal has begun, and within a month the manufacturing part of the magazine will be in its new home. There will be forty five printing presses in the new seven-story building, and 17.600 square feet of floor space. The ex offices will all remain in the present large building, which four city lots, The entire plant is now the largest of any publishing house in America. Dr. C. II. Smith and Col. C. R. McCrory have converted the corn er store into a canning factory for a day or two.
