It looks like they will never b arn,

a battle a few days ago the Insur

Russia and Japan are preparing
for war. Just how lar tho nat ions
of tho cartji will bq involved in
these wars is hard to determine*
It is evident that a groat revolu
tion, is on, hut what will ho the
result is not known: The signs
however, point to tho final revolu
tion of the eastern nations and
the adoption of western civiliza
tion. China is just on the eve of
a universal revolution, and with
the high esteem which that nation
holds for this country, it would
not be suprising to some of us to
see China adopt American civiliza
tion very nearly without astruglo..
But with nil conquests for the
acquisition of territory, Africa
will be the bone of contention:
with its fields of diamonds and
mines of gold, its timber wealth
and millions of acres of fertile
soil will be sufficient reasons for
stronger nations to go in and
drive back the natives and take
posessiou of their lands. The
Anglo Saxon is destined to posess
and rule the world. Never, since
tho Saxonian conquest of Briton
in the early centuries, lias there
been a people able to stand before
them in battle. Higher and more
noble have been their ideas and
aims in all their struggles for re
ligious and politicals liberties.
Untiring are they and inspired by
success they go on making great

Vital Christianity No. 8.
How can I know that I ajn
Chrisiun?
This question is asked by thous
ands and receives almost as many
different answers. One says you
cannot know, another you know
by your f iling*, and still another
i comparing your experience
with that of others, “Uncle John,
he saw n light and beam a voice
when In- come through, and Aunt
.limsey, she heard music and saw
signs in the sky, Brother Bill, .vhy

this is too often used to convince
one that he is or is not a 'Chris
tian. it is not what John, Bill
or Jimsy heard saw or felt, neither
is it what, you saw heard or felt,
however, what one believes deter
mines what lie feels. The word of
God must determine and by it
you are to know whether or not
you are a Christian, 1 his
tion is one of sutli vital impor
tance that it deserves a careful
and prayi’nl consideration. We
are of the opinion that if many
who profess to be Christians
would turn tlx* light of God’s
w'iU'd onto their evidences of
Christianity.they would be dumb
founded when they found that
t heir profession had been a decep
tion. An experience that w ill not

of the truth. Let us then exam
ine the first witness. How do we
expect the spirit to testify? By
the word as written in the scrip
ture, of course. First evidence
by spirit. 2nd What i# the
evidence you give of Vital Chris
innity? Ans. “My first evidence
is given in Rom. f>: I. Therefore
being justified bv faith, we have
peace with God." The point in
this testimony is “peace,” why,
peace! Because “There is no
peace to the wicked, saitli the
Lord.” So if a person once poss
esses real peace of mind and .con
science it is a sure evidence of
Christianity. “In tho world ye
have tribulations but in me ye
have peace.” John 1(f: 88. “My
peace 1 give unto you: not
as tho world giveth. give l unto
you.” Then this peace is some
thing difi’erent from the pence of
the world? Yes. the peace of the
World is momentary and only
satisfies the carnal mind and even
in the “joy, of this world, there
is heaviness,” but the peace r—
ceived in believing is perfect and
enduring.
Second witness, the spirit of
the believer. What do you say
is the first evidence of Christiani
ty? Answer. It is a peace that
produces a joy which is “Inox
pressable and full glory.” How
and when did this peace come
you? “Not until l had

things were in me before I reefeiv
ed it. I liad tears on account of
my gins, mourned because I was in
darkness and promised to try to
do all I could to serve Him who
Imd done so much • for me, but

First witness, the spirits. What
is the second evidence you give
vital Christianity? Ans. “A e

not be shuken by temptation, if
not, it will yenld to the luroments
of the devil and that ,professed
faith will be made void. The real
faith, through which peace comes,
will glory in such temptation
tribulation because of the experi

step by step, until he has
the stature of a full man in Christ
Jesus. “The hardness of the

mind, the anxiety of the covetous
will render that profession
less and will show the
his mistake, that his professed con
version was not thorough.”
.Second witness, the spirit of the.
believer. What is the second evi*
dunce you bear in the case of vital*
Christianity? Ans. “The

every bund by temptation,.! >va„
sorely tried, tribulation of various
kinds wore thrown into my path
way, to doubt, to blaspheme, to

temptations have on you? “Why,
1 triumphed over them as a victor
triumpliea over a fallen foe. Hav
ing over come them I found my
self much stronger in my determi
nations to follow and obey the
Lord.”
First witness, the Spirit, What
is the third testimony you hear in
the case of vital Christianity?
Ans. “The second leads to the
third, thus, “Tribulations werk
eth experience, and experience,,
hope, and hope niaketh not
ashamed because tho love of God is
shed abroad in our hearts by
Holy Ghost which is given unto
us.” Rom. 6; 6. When this hope
springs up :u the believer, lie is no
more confused in his mind, but at
once confesses to the world that.

heart man helioveth unto rlght

many and strong in praise of Ilfm
who saved me by His grtiee. All
