Georgia Mining Cuiiipuny MriUen It Kiel) In \Vilkt*H Count}*. Atlanta, July a7. —There are mafe rial indications in existence that . u gold boaring soil rivaling in richness and purity tho best that California showed in the day* of ’40 or the Klon dike revealed in later day This mod eru K1 Dorado is located in the state of Georgia, in SViikes county, and tile At lanta owners of the property are L H. Oppmihcim, Monroe Bickart and A. liluftieiuhei. These gentlemen, with William W. IL D. Flutter Storey, a mum McDuffie prospector, and of county, constitute what is termed t'lu- Columbia Mining company, by which is owned the land upon winch the lead of gold discovered. From a single ton of earth taken from this newly discovered mine, which is known as tho Latimer unite, gold to the amount of j-.:2,(i40 was recently gotten. This, it is claimed by the owners of the mine, is the richest yield over known to be taken from a single ton ot earth, the nearest approach to it being the cele brated Coonistock mm a of Colorado, which assayed #10,CC0 to a ton of the gold-bearing soil. The correctness of these figures is attested by tho affidavit# of thoso by whom the figures wore ob tained. r There are in sight so far in ihe vein just unearthed, which can be nominal panned out into pure gold for a mere cost, about 11 tons of earth. When the gold is taken from the ore it will approximate very close to $300,000 in value. This is but the first step in the work of unearthing the fail deposit of the precious metal. The full extent of the mine’s wealth, of course, is but a conjecture, but from early evidonces it is not improbable that it may be the be ginning of a flood of treasure from the bosom of Georgia, rivaling in extent and quality some of the gifts the west has made to the enrichmeut of the world’s treasury.
