Ringing bells at Fellowship Presbyterian If you’re looking for something new, fun and re warding this fall, you may have just found it. Folks just like you are playing Hand bells every Monday after noon at 3:30 in Fellowship Hall at FPC off Cove Road in Jasper. You don’t have to be able to read music to learn. At Fellowship Presbyte rian Church, ECO we have a frill Five Octave set of Eng lish Handbells. These beau ties are solid brass and fill several cases. The FPC Handbell Choir is composed of men and women who can range from teens to eighties. Under the direction of Regina Martin they are cur rently learning music to per form during upcoming Advent worship and as part of the FPC Christmas Con cert on December 11. Discover how playing handbells is different from any other musical instrument. As a “Ringer” you have one job unlike say a piano or gui tar where you are responsible for playing an entire range of notes. There are eight differ ent ways to ring a handbell. Playing handbells nas been described like this “To ring you move the bell in a ba nana-shaped motion away from your body as if you were holding a glass of wine. You stop the vibrating sound or "damp” by bringing the bell back against your body.” Treat yourself now to this unique opportunity. Come have fun, meet new people, learn something new and be in a place apart from the everyday world. It was momentous because” the two Grand Lodge juris dictions achieved mutual amity and recognition.” In Masonic circles, I have been a Mason for 54 years as was my dad, only one Grand Lodge could be recognized as the “Of ficial Lodge” in a state and that was The Grand Lodge of Georgia until the “Treaty of Mutual Recognition.” The Masonic Messen ger published the inspir ing remarks of former Governor Roy Bames. But the equation of seeing and believing works both ways. That is, we often believe only because we have directed our eyes, or our mental gaze, in the direction of something. Many of us believe in God because we have seen His work in our lives or have experienced him in a way that is hard to doubt. Many view the natural world around them as the handiwork of God and this strengthens their faith. The eleventh chapter of Hebrews gives a working definition of faith as “confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” (Hebrews 11:1 NIV) Those who believe without seeing are sometimes commended for their faith, but sometimes, in the effort to strengthen our faith, we really need to look harder. If you aren't looking for God in the world then you probably won’t see Him there, whereas if you make a determined effort to see God, both in the guise of your fellow human beings, and in the natural world all around you, you are sure to see Him everywhere. - Christopher Simon Cornerstone Church of Jasper GA 140 Cornerstone Dr., Jasper, GA 9:30 A.M. j. 744 Noah Dr., Jasper Franklin 706-692-3402 ', Financia !, *All Loans Subject to Our Liberal Credit Policy and Limitations, If Any. 1 st Franklin Financial Corporation, Georgia Residential MortgageLicensee #5656, NMLSR #141654 ©C,?Y U MOUNTAIN AUTO PARTS 706-253-2657 521 North Main Street Jasper, GA 30143 We deliver daily after 4:00 p.m. ^744 Noah Dr., #116 NEW YORK STYLE fj Jasper, GA 3-143 ' 706-253-0800 ‘Your Neighborhood Pizzeria ” COOL SPRINGS BAPTIST CHURCH 4671 HWY 53 East, Tate, Georgia (770) 735-2799 __ Sunday School 9:45 am Worship Service 11:00 am www.coolspringschurch.com SPEEDBURGER, INC Lresh Cooked Barbeque Lresh Chicken Cooked To Order Dine In Or Carry Out Service Phone In Lor Carry Out Service 612 East Church St., Jasper 706-692-5136 Episcopal Church fpl of the Holy Family 202 Griffith Rd..
