Seems there are new vendors and new faces of new customers every week. You’ll find many vendors are pros at re cycling items to make beau tiful and/or useful new items. And many vendors create new items with their talent, like Laura Pont. She makes beautiful earrings and bracelets with natural stones plus stylish crocheted items will be available soon. Lora Ann Pharis of ga mountain crafts offers leather goods such as belts, purses, and more. Some new vendors, Dual Souls Art and Lavish Layers Cake Boutique had many po tential customers checking out their offerings. The Wednesday market is done, but there are many veggies left every week. Be sure and stop by next Satur day to stock up with beans, squash, corn, onions and more. OFFICIAL NOTICE OF ANNUAL MEETING OF AMICALOLA ELECTRIC MEMBERSHIP CORPORATION The 2022 Annual Meeting of Amicalola Electric Membership Corporation will be held at the Amicalola EMC Headquarters facility located at 544 Highway 515 South, Jasper, Pickens County, Georgia, on Saturday, October 1,2022, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Registration is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. At the present time, entertainment by the gospel group Glory- bound is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. In the event the format of the Annual Meeting must change to comply with so cial distancing guidelines, the date and time of the meeting will remain the same. All decisions will be based upon the best interest of the health and safety of Am icalola EMC members and employees. Georgia DOT has awarded $151M in construction contracts this year $35 million will go to single Forsyth County project Ga. DOT Press Release ATLANTA - In July 2022, the Georgia Depart ment of Transportation (Georgia DOT) awarded a total of 22 projects valued at approximately $150,615,453. The largest single invest ment, worth approximately $35 million, was awarded to Vertical Earth Incorporated. This widening and recon struction project consists of 2.373 miles on SR 9 from McFarland Road to Post Road/Mullinax Road in Forsyth County. This con tract, along with one other widening and reconstruction contract, represents 34 per cent of the awarded funds. The second largest con tract is a safety project worth approximately $10 million. This project was awarded to C.W. Matthews Contracting Company, Inc and will con sist of 1.278 miles of pedes trian upgrades and realignment on US 441/SR 15 from I-85/SR 403 to Faulkner Road in Banks County. It also includes the construction of a median from the Jackson County Line to south of I-85/SR 403. This contract, along with three other safety projects, represent 20 percent, or ap proximately $21 million, of the awarded funds. Approximately $15 mil lion, or 14 percent, of the awarded funds were for bridge rehabilitation projects. The remaining one per cent is allotted for a construc tion project in Toombs County. The July awards bring the total construction contracts for Fiscal Year 2023 to $151 million. This total includes TIA, Design-Bid-Build and locally administered projects. Fiscal Year 2023 began July 1,2022. Award Announcement list (includes rejected and or de ferred projects). Bids for De sign-Bid-Build projects were received on July 22, and con tracts were awarded to the lowest qualified bidders on August 5. Georgia Department of Transportation plans, con structs and maintains Geor gia’s state and federal highways.
