All are invited to join us at First Baptist Church of Jas
per on Sunday, June 30th as we welcome back the Roman
Festival Brass in concert. The “God and Country” perfor
mance, celebrating our country’s birthday, starts at 6:30
p.m. in the church sanctuary. Admission is free. No ticket

Roman Festival Brass features a very diverse member
ship and is located in scenic northwest Georgia. The group
brings together volunteer brass and percussion musicians
from three states. Roman Festival Brass plays numerous
concerts throughout the year including seasonal Christ
mas and 4th of July concerts as well as thematic concerts.
Roman Festival Brass has performed on the national
stage at The Great American Brass Band Festival and
competed in the North American Brass Band Association
Festival.
First Baptist is pleased to welcome them back to Jas
per. As always attendance is free so come out and be in
spired by this dedicated group of musicians as they pay
tribute to our great nation.

“That if thou shalt
confess with thy mouth
the Lord Jesus, and shalt
believe in thine heart that
God hath raised him from
the dead, thou shalt be
saved (Romans 10:9).
The fundamental doc
trine of Christianity is
the Resurrection of Jesus
Christ. To deny the Resur
rection is to attack Christi
anity. This is the assurance
of salvation for all that
would put their faith in
Him. There is compelling
evidence of the resurrec
tion as follows.
The missing soldiers
they left their post after
the Resurrection and be
fore the women got there
Sunday morning.
The tomb was empty
(John 20:5; Luke 24:2;
Mark 16:6; Matthew
28:6)!
The Angelic witness.
And it came to pass, as
they were much perplexed
thereabout, behold, two
men stood by them in
shining garments: And
as they were afraid, and
bowed down their faces
to the earth, they said unto
them, Why seek ye the
living among the dead?
(Luke 24:4-5).
In Luke 24:41-42, Je
sus asked for something
to eat, showing he was not
just a spirit.
“But Mary stood with
out at the sepulcher weep
ing: and as she wept, she
stooped down, and looked
into the sepulcher, And
seeth two angels in white
sitting, the one at the
head, and the other at the
feet, where the body of
Jesus had lain. And they
say unto her, Woman,
why weepest thou? She
saith unto them, Because
they have taken away my
LORD, and I know not
where they have laid him”
(John 20:11-13).

Things
We Don’t
Know
“For now we see only a
reflection as in a mirror;
then we shall seeface to face.
Now I know in part; then I
shall know fully, even as
I am fully known. ”
—1 Corinthians 13: 12 NIV
T here is very little that we know with certainty. We often think we
know why others do what they do, but when we reflect honestly about
how unsure we often are of our own motives, it should be obvious that
we don’t really know the motives of others. The more that we know about
how the universe works, both on the largest and the smallest scales, from
subatomic particles to the formation of galaxies, the more we realize how little
we know. No one but God was there at the creation of the universe. There is
a sense in which the world is intelligible: things can be understood well
enough to build functioning cars and spaceships and medical devices which
do indeed work, but they don’t work so perfectly as to give us the illusion of
certainty. There is plenty that we know, or can know, but our collective
knowledge is like a drop in a veritable ocean of ignorance. We do well to
remain humble in the face of all that we do not know. — Christopher Simon
