Stand-up to Ataxia is Back!
at Tater Patch Theater, June 22
Spectacular summer
on local stage

Ataxia is a progressive
neurological condition that
is relatively rare, but still af
fects thousands of people in
the United States and around
the world. (For more infor
mation, go to www.Ataxia.
Org). Although related to
ALS, Huntington’s, and Par
kinson’s disease, Ataxia is
not well-known, and so has
struggled to gain research
attention and funds.
For the past several years,
Robin and Dick Manley
have organized and/or host
ed an annual event to help
raise funds to support the
National Ataxia Founda
tion. Last year, they hosted
the first Stand-up to Atax
ia in Georgia, at the Tater
Patch Players Theater. They
had so much fun that they
committed to do it again,
but even bigger and better.

This year, we will be as
sisted by not three, not four,
but FIVE terrific comics
from the Atlanta area. This
will be a family-friendly,
PG-rated show that every
one will enjoy.
Yoshee So is returning
from our 2023 show, to kick
off and emcee the evening.
A nationally touring come
dian, Yoshee has appeared at
comedy festivals from coast
to coast, as well as NBC’s
Stand Up for Diversity. In
his free time, Yoshee cruises
around in his car sipping on
ice cold Shirley Temples and
blasting Celine Dion like no
body’s listening. (AtaxiaD-

T J Black is just return
ing from the National Atax
ia Foundation Conference
in Orlando, where he per
formed to an appreciative
audience of fellow Ataxians.
A native of Canton, T J re
fuses to let ataxia keep him
from his dreams. (AtaxiaD-

Mookie began pursuing his

and parking lots. Now he
travels around the country to
restaurants, bars, and park

says) you can catch him in
a city near you at corporate
events, retirement homes,
comedy clubs, fundraisers,
or your cousin’s cookout.

Tater Patch Players
This week Tater Patch
Players is kicking off a
spectacular summer on our
stage. Monday, June 17
kicked off our weeklong
Youth Camp with scores
of young people enjoying
on-stage fun! Thanks to
Tater Patch board member
Kirstin Davis for pulling it
all together.
Then, this Saturday we
are privileged to once
again be the venue for a
fundraiser for the National
Ataxia Foundation. See
story on this page.
Once the Ataxia laugh-
fest finished, rehearsals re
sume for TWO fun events.
Tater Patch is performing a
Murder mystery dinner
theater for ONE NIGHT
ONLY at Rocco’s Pub on
July 22! Are you the mur
derer. ... Are you sure?
Contact Rocco’s about res
ervations and come laugh,
eat a great meal and solve
a crime!
And meanwhile, re
hearsal continues for our
next main stage produc
tion. We are proud to pres
ent Tuesdays with Morrie
by Jeffrey Hatcher and
Mitch Albom, based on
the book by Mitch Albom.
Many of you have read the
book, or even seen Mor-
ries interviews with Ted
Koppel nearly 30 years
ago. This is a funny, warm
and uplifting show with
two actors bringing Morrie
and Mitch to the stage for
your delight. TUESDAYS
WITH MORRIE is the
autobiographical story of
Mitch Albom, an accom
plished journalist driven
solely by his career, and
Morrie Schwartz, his for
mer college professor. Six
teen years after graduation,
Mitch happens to catch
Morrie’s appearance on a
television news program
and learns that his old
professor is battling Lou
Gehrig’s Disease. Mitch is
reunited with Morrie, and
what starts as a simple vis
it turns into a weekly pil
grimage and a last class in
the meaning of life. And
life, as we all know, is a
great mixture of sadness
and delight.
There is much to laugh
at in the play, a hundred
good thoughts on which to
reflect and, at last, even a
glimpse of mortality. Tony
Graham plays Morrie and
Gary Collier is Mitch.
They are working dili
gently to not only learn the
lines, but to learn the char
acters of the two men they
play. New to our stage,
but not to acting, both men
promise to delight you with
the first of what we hope
will be many Tater Patch
appearances. Tickets are
on sale now at the website,
www. taterpatchplayers. org
for the show which open
July 12 for three week
ends. This one speaks to
everyone in the audience
and creates a wonderful
evening of theater.
