Trojans rout War Eagles,
travel to Social Circle Friday
The Lamar County
Trojans (7-1, 4-0) rolled to
a 24-3 homecoming win
over the Putnam County
War Eagles (4-5, 3-2) here
Friday night before a
large, raucous crowd at
Trojan Field.
The Tro
jans started
slowly and
the War
Eagles scored
first on a
22-yard field
goal at the
2:13 mark
of the first
quarter.
LC struck
back with
5:59 left in
the second
quarter when
Qua Hughley scored on
a one-yard plunge. Caleb
Miller hit the PAT and it
was 7-3.
Less than three min
utes later, Lamar’s JahN-
izae Few broke loose on a
31-yard touchdown run.
Miller’s kick again was
good and it was 14-3.
With just 25 seconds
left in the first half, Miller
nailed a 21-yard field goal
to make it 17-3.
After a scoreless third
period, LC put the game
away on a 43-yard touch
down run by
Kaden Carter.
Miller’s PAT
accounted for
the final mar
gin of 24-3.
Carter was
a force for
Lamar with
80 yards and
the one score
on 14 carries
of offense. On
defense, he
added 13 solo
tackles, two
assists, one
tackle for loss, one pass
break-up and one sack.
Hughley had six totes
for 24 yards and one TD.
Few had three carries for
21 yards and one TD. He
also recorded four solo
tackles and one tackle for
loss.
Jermaine Doctor had
eight tackles, two tackles
for loss, one QB hurry
and one sack.
“It was a great win
for us over a region op
ponent. We had a great
week of practice and
were able to execute in
all phases of the game.
We had a great crowd.
Our players love it when
Trojan Field is packed
and loud,” coach Travis
Ellington said.
The Trojan special
teams units had prob
ably their best night.
Miller punted three times
for a total of 107 yards,
flipping the field several
times. “We had great ef
fort in our punt coverage
operations,” Ellington
added.
Lamar travels to Social
Circle (5-3, 3-1) this week.
The Trojans are atop the
region standings with Jas
per County second at 6-1
overall and 3-0 in region
play. Jasper County beat
Social Circle 31-29 Friday
night at Social Circle.

The EC Fady Trojans
swept a doubleheader
with Swainsboro in the
first round of the GHSA
Class A, Div. 1 playoffs
here Friday and will host
region foe Social Circle
in round two this week.
EC upset Social Circle in
the region tournament to
claim the crown and #1
seed earlier this month.
Round two action
begins Thursday with a
doubleheader at Aldora
Field beginning at 4 p.m.
Game three, if needed,
will be played Friday at
noon here.
In game one Friday,
Swainsboro’s Fady Tigers
took a 2-0 first inning lead
but FC came right back
with four runs in the bot
tom of the first to make it
4-2. The Fady Tigers got
one run in the top of the
second but FC ace Filly
Tavares shut them down
from that point on. FC
added an insurance run
in the bottom of the third
and went on to win 5-3.
Tavares allowed just
four hits and struck out
four.
Caitlynn Whittaker
was stellar on defense
at shortstop for FC. She
also doubled and scored
a run. Brayleigh Ziehme
went two for two with a
double and an rbi. Bailey
Gunter had a hit and two
rbis.
In game two, FC put up
15 runs in two innings to
win by mercy rule 15-0.
Dakota Crowley got
the win for FC and re
corded three strikeouts.
EC’s Hailey Stanley
went two for three with
two doubles, two runs
scored and three rbis.
Whittaker went two for
three with a double, two
runs scored and three
rbis.
Gunter went two for
two and scored twice.
Kylee Kington went two
for four with a run scored
and two rbis. Ziehme was
two for three with a run
and and rbi.
Addison Nail was two
for two with two runs
scored and two rbis.

November 5, 2024 General Election
Pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 21-2-386, you are hereby notified that it is the
intent of Lamar County Board of Elections to begin processing absentee
ballots cast during the November 5, 2024, General Election on Tuesday,
October 29, 2024 through Friday, November 1,2024 from 10am -2pm;
Monday, November 4, 2024 from 10am-2pm at the Board of Elections
Office located at 790 Veterans Parkway, Suite D, Barnesville, Georgia
30204. Processing absentee ballots will resume on Tuesday, November
5, at 5pm. at the Board of Elections Office located at 790 Veterans Park
way, Suite D, Barnesville, Georgia 30204.
The early processing of absentee ballots before the closing of the polls
shall be a controlled process to maintain the secrecy of all ballots and to
protect against the collection or disclosure of any balloting information
before the close of the polls at 7 p.m. on Election Day.
