...OUR ENTIRE STOCK AT COST...
J. C. COLLIER CO.
We are making preparations to reorganize the Oxford Underwear Mills and the J. C. Collier Cos. into one
“gigantic” corporation. Our own money and some foreign capital will go into this new enterprise. In order
to do this we must sell twenty=five thousand dollars worth of dry goods &c by January 15th. The plans for
this great deal have all been perfected; but the new stockholders say that we must turn our goods into cash
as nothing but cash will be accepted over and above a certain amount of merchandise. This deal is based on
the bond election of our city being carried. If the bonds are defeated our stock will still be thrown on the
market regardless of cost as it will be our purpose to do business only in a live, progressive and up=to=date little
city. Our new incoming stockholders urge us to turn every dollar of our goods into cash and we must do it.

One of the requirements of the new merger is that we shall have only a certain amount of merchandise
on hand—to be able to meet their requirements we must rush the sale. It's also absolutely necessary that the
new corporation do business in a live town—if the bond issue be defeated we will have to close the entire stock
—then move to a more suitable and progressive city. There will be no change of plans==they are already
made. The election in about one week casts the die for us==in Barnesville with a bigger and a better mer=
cantile business and enlarged underwear mills==or in some other city. The sale is on.
