The good people residing in the vtrinitv of R -scoe, Ga., are much ex cited over the remarkable manifesta tion of the strange power of a 13- year cld boy, named Wiliam Thomas, who lives with grtiudm*ther about three miles east of Rescue, on tbe road leading to Palmetto. On Wed nesday night of la t wets the litl 1m ftliow sought bis couch at the usual hour for retiring, but just as tic waa dropping oft to sleep he was aroused bv a violent shakirnr of th bed. Thoroughly startled by th- strange sensation, aud he sat up aud endeav ored to ascertain the cms< of tb coannotion. That the disturbance was cot due to human agency was apparent, and calling to the other members of the family, he excited ly told what had occurred. They were incredulous at first, aud induced him return to his bed. Iu a short time the singular manifestations were repeated, and with more vio lence than before. The household was iu a state of panic aud alarm. It became evident that some uuseeu force was at work, the uncanny dem onstrations ceasing ouly when the little fellow would get up aud leave the bed. The next, night the bedstead rolled and pitched from one side of the room to the other, the combined ef forts of the three or four stout men being unable to hold it iu place. Ou Friday night the casters weie taken off and several ch urs propped against it to make it steady, but the boy stretched himself out ou toe mattress the bedstead commenced quaking and swaying and fiually overturned the chairs aud swept cut into the middle of the room. Each night for more than a week this strange performance has been repeated, aud the mystery is yet un sol'ed. Dr. Hood, of Roscce, Lus been called in, and is making a care ful study of the case. He has visit ed the boy twice- Upon each (X animation he lound traces of fever and evidences of nervous exhaustion. Whether these conditions tire due to the experiences through which the 1 little follow has passed, or whether I they have some intimate connection with the remarkable manifestations described above, he is unable to de termine. Iu the meantime the ex citement has not abated iu the least, the strange phenomenon forming the chief topic of conversation in the neighbornood. Toe boy seems more antioytd than pleased at the curiosity which he has aroused and evinces ittle inol nation to talk concerning bis peculiur power.—Newnau Her ald.
