YOUTH ARE THINKING
Georgia’s farm boys and girls are
thinking in terms of livestock and
specialized farming. Dean Paul M'
Chapman, College of Agriculture,
said in speaking to more than 100
older rural youth gathered in Athens
recently for a ten-day leadership in
stitute. He pointed out that at least
one farm boy and girl in every three in
Georgia must seek urban or non-farm
employment, compared with one out of
every four for the nation as a whole.
'•Georgia youth are thinking about
poultry and dairy farming, and on the
basis of hundreds of letters of in
quiry. I know that the state’s farm
girls are interested in nursing, secre
tarial and clerical work including gov
ernment employment, and in such
fields as beauty culture."
Wildlife cannot survive in a burned
over area. Forest fires destroy birds
and eggs.
Screw worms can be controlled by
observing the cattle daily and prompt
ly treating any infection.
The numerous friends of Mr. Jeff
Spooner will regret to learn of his
illness at the Navy Hospital in Bos
ton, Mass. He will be confined to the
hospital for some time for medical at
tention, reports indicate.

PEANUT
GROWERS
With favorable weather conditions for next 30 days, we are al
most certain of another good bumper crop of peanuts that can be sold at
higher prices, provided these peanuts are HARVESTED and CURED
properly.
You will have two types of peanuts, EDIBLE PEANUTS and OIL
PEANUTS. Both of these type peanuts will be bought on GRADE, there
fore if a Farmer is growing Oil Peanuts, it will certainly pay him to sell
2, No. 3 or low grade Oil Stock Pea
