Church of Nazarene is the scene of
Owens-Williams wedding ceremony
Miss Josephine Owens, the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Louie Owens, and Ronnie
Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Zayward Williams of Iron
City, exchanged wed diin g
vows on Friday morning, June
12, at the First Church of the
Nazarene, with the Rev.
James Foster, pastor, offici
ating at the impressive doub
le-ring ceremony in the pres
ence of the immediate family.
Miss Donna Durden was
the only attendant. She wore
a light dacron- dress with a
fitted bodice with a round
neck and cap sleeves and a
full skirt.
The bride was lovely in a
short white dress of sheer da
cron material with a full
skirt and fitted tucked bodice
with little cap sleeves. Her

The Spring Creek Baptist
Church will hold its annual
revival beginning Sunday,
June 21, and running thru
Sunday, June 2<Bth. Services
will be conducted by Rev.
Kenneth Long of Salem-Sem
inole, and will be held each
evening at 8:00 o’clock.

James John McAnulty
Mr. James John McAnulty,
78, passed away Friday morn
ing in a Chattahoochee, Fla.,
hospital after a lengthy ill
ness. He was a lifelong resi
dent of Jackson County and a
retired farmer-
Graveside services were
held Saturday morning in the
Collins Chapel Cemetery, Ma
lone, Fla., with the Rev. G.
Lloyd Clough officiating.
He is survived by his wid
ow, Mrs. Ressde Jordan Mc-
Anulty, Bascom, Fla., one son,
Maxwell McAnulty of Gar
denia, Calif., three grand
children and several nieces
and nephews.
Evans Funeral Home was
in charge of arrangements.

Bridal Shower
On Thursday night before
the wedding, the bride was
honored by the ladies of the
church at a bridal shower in
the social hall of the church.
Arriving guests were greet
ed by Mrs. John D. Harrell,
Mrs. Gordon Ivey and Mrs-
Vester King, who introduced
them to the receiving line
composed of Mrs. Louie 0-
wen, mother of the bride, the
bride, and Mrs. Zayward Will
iams, mother of the groom.
Orange and yellow hemero
callis and white oleander were
used in beautiful arrange
ments made by Mrs. Florence
Shingler.
The guest register was kept
by Miss Janice Owens, sister
of the bride.

taining were Mrs. Monroe
Dukes, Mrs. James Foster and
Mrs. J. A. Thomas.
Beautiful and delicious par
ty dainties were served by
Miss Peggy Thomas, Miss
Linda Fave Phillips, Miss
Ann Hill. Miss Gayle Harrell
received in the gift room
where the bride received
many lovely and useful gifts.
For the occasion, Miss 0-
wens chose a two-piece dress
of navy blue with a pleated
skirt. Her corsage was of
white carnations.

Receives iScience Award
Larry Daniels, son of Mr.
and Mrs. James Daniels, for
merly of Donalsonville, was
the recipient of the annual
science award at Malone High
School in their recent gradu
ation service. He was also
one of three semi-finalists in
the annual declamations-

Mrs. Carlton Thomas, Jr. is
spending this week in New
Smyrna P* c ch. Fla., with her
parents. Mr. and Mrs. T. E.
Bush.

F dend-s here were saddened
at the death of Mrs. C. S.
Hodges recently. She would
have been ninety-four years
old in Julv- She had been an
outstanding churoh and civic
leader and had a host of warm
friends and admirers who
mourn her passing.
She had been especially in
terested in patriotic work and
was a staunch supporter of
the Daughters of the Ameri
can Revolution and the Unit
ed Daughters of the Confed
eracy. The UDC chapter in
Donalsonville was named the
Lda Underwood Hodges chap
ter in her honor.
Even more outstanding has
been her devotion to the Bap
tist Church which she had
served as officer many times
in the Woman’s Missionary
Union of the Bowen Associa
tion and as trustee of the
Norman Junior College.

Sgt. and Mrs. Buddy Will
iams have returned to their
home in Columbus from
Washington where Sgt. Will
iams has been a patient in the
veteran’s hospital there. They
were accompanied on the trip
home by their daughter, Miss
Linda, who went by train to
Washington to motor down
with her parents.
Sgt. Williams has retired
from the service.
His many friends here are
glad that he is able to return
to his family and home.

turned to her home in Grace
ville, Fla. Saturday after a
few days here visiting her
sister, Mrs. Glover and
Mr. Glover. From Graceville,
the Glovers went to Orlando
to visit relatives and expect
to do as much touring of Flor-

Mr. John Hodges of Los
Angeles, California, was the
honor guest at a dinner on
Sunday evening at the home
of his aijpt and uncle, Mr.
and Mrs. Fred B- Hodges.

Mrs. Enoch Ausley has re
turned home from Archbold
Hospital in Thomasville, Ga.,
where she spent several days
last week as a result of am au
tomobile accident in which
she sustained a severe whip
lash.
At home to visit her last
week was her daughter, Miss
Katherine Ausley of Atlanta.
Mr. and Mrs. Ausley, Bobby
and Miss Katherine enjoyed
having Mr. and Mrs. Ted
Hartley and Ted, Jr- of Do
than join them for supper on
Saturday night.

at Wesleyan College, accord
ing to Miss Elizabeth Winn,
registrar.
In order to be placed on this
list, students must complete
two years at Wesleyan with
an overall average of “B” and
above in all subjects.

Mrs. C. E. Waddell of Iron
City is a patient at Donalson
ville Hospital, and hope that
she will soon be well again.

her grandmother, Mrs. John

Mr. Woodrow Parker is in
room 424 at Pheobe Putney
Hospital in Albany after und
ergoing surgery last week.
The latest report is that he is
doing nicely.

Michael Klempf of Jackson
ville, Fla. is spending some
time here with his father, Mr.
Meyer Klempf, and is em
ployed at Dixie Egg Company.

Mr. and Mrs. Bill Thomp
son of Birmingham, Ala. sur
prised Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Rachel Wednesday by stop
ping with them at the Green
Top for breakfast. The two
couples had adjoining apart
ments at two of Michigan’s
army bases, and were togeth
er on the day World War II
ended.
Mr. and Mrs. Hunter Park
er, Henry and Steve were in
Donalsonville over the week
end, visiting friends and for
mer students. Mr. Parker was
band director here for several
years.

We were surprised to see
Mrs. Don Wasson and son,
Kirby, of Atlanta here Mon
day until it dawned on us
that Miss Lizbeth O’Neal is
out of town. The purpose of
their visit here is to keep the
‘boogers” off Miss Polly O’-
Neal.
We have never quite und
erstood this since Polly is the
only one of the three sisters
who shoots a gun. Guess she
just wants someone around
to tell her when they see the
white of their eyes and Tuffy,
the dog, just won’t do that.
Lib and Polly met Mr. Was
son in Beuna Vista Sunday,
and brought the visitors
