We, the committee to inspect
public records have examined the
records in the offices of the Clerk
of ’Superior Court, Ordinary, Tax
Commissioner and the Sheriff of
Seminole County. We find the
records in each to be neat, well
kept and up to date, and commend
each in the conduct of the offices.
William Greene, J. H. Godby,
Jr., P. A. Walker, Arthur Dur
shimer, Jr.
We, the committee on public
buildings find that the Courthouse
and jail are in reasonable good
condition, we find that the top
leaking at south end over steps
needs repairing, plastering and
painting, also painting Courtroom.
The Sheriff’s quarters in particu
lar, needs plastering and painting,
kitchen sink and bathroom fixtures
need replacing. The offices need
better lighting system. The Health
Department office and soil con
servation needs painting. We find
at County Work Camp, building in
good condition but we do recom
mend that painting be done on the
inside of the Warden’s house. We
also recommend that there be a
building built to keep the white
prisoners.
John L. Drake, Jr., W. H. Miller,
Jr., J. E. Adams, Gordon Barber
We the committee on County
School Superintendent’s office and
White and Negro schools recom
mend: Seminole County Training
School was inspected and found
in good condition except for a few
leaks in the office and hall area of
the building. The entire playing
area at the school can stand a lot
of improvement. The drainage
ditch west boundary needs cleaning
out.
The white elementary school
building is in good condition. The
playground area should have ex
tensive work done in the summer,
such as leveling and grassing.
There is a great need for a cover
ed unloading area, for school buses
at the elementary building and al
so the walkway to the entrance to
same building to be surfaced or
resurfaced.
The high school buildings and
grounds were inspected and found
in very good condition. The drive
way in front of the high school
needs some repair and resurfacing.
