DONALSONVILLE (GA. 31745) NEWS THURSDAY, OCT; 29, 1964 Garden club meets at Bridges home, planning war on ‘litter bugs’ soon The Donalsonville Garden Club met recently at the love ly country home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bridges. Other hostesses with her were Mrs. George Trawick, Mrs. Joe Ho ward and Mrs. Price Lane. Guests assembled in the spacious game room. Beauti ful arrangements were dis played by Mrs- Bartow Gibson who had Mirandy roses and sasanquas in an attractive compote of white, and Mrs. F. S. Shingler, Jr., whose ar rangement was of camellias, pinneroil, plumbage and pink daisy mums. Mrs. J. B. Gibson, president, presided. Mrs. F. S- Shingler, Jr., call ed attention to “The Make George Beautiful Week” when the garden clubs, FHA girls, and FFA boys and other civic organizations will plant 300, 000 dogwood trees. These are available through the county agent’s office at a cost of four cents each. The plants come from the State Experiment Station and are about eigh teen inches high. Mrs. Clyde Perry gave in structions for an approach ing “litter bug campaign” when an attempt will be made to make the public conscious of trash and a clean-up of the highways and other public grounds. Mrs. Bradshaw Clarke was the program leader and as sisted by Miss Mary Anne Eason showed color film of the “Garden Therapy Pro gram” put on by the state garden clubs at the state hos pital in Milledgeville. This is most beneficial for the pa tients who need the exercise, a new hobby and a feeling of accomplishment. With 18,000 patients that institution is ’argest in the world of its kind. Mrs. Dale is the former Miss Elizabeth Parker. She enjoyed attending the wedding of her niece, Miss Donna Dale and John Castro which took place on October 17, at the Catholic Church there. At the reception after wards at the home, Mrs. Cher ry cut and served the wedding cake. She reports a delightful time there and on the trip through the Great Smokies at this season when the fall leaves are at their peak of brilliant color. * * * Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Griffin of Atlanta have a little son, born on Monday. He is the i grandson of Mr. and Mrs- Bar tow Saunders of Bonifay and the great grandson of Mrs. T. J. Shingler, Jr.
