NOT GOING TO PIECES. In his message to the General Assembly, read at the opening last VVednesdaj', Gov. Terrell gives a gentle reminder to muck "akes in general, and to reformers for-offiee-ouly. We call attention to the following extract from his address: “Public office is a public trust. Many men aspire to office, promp ted largely by the most patriotic motives. Officers of this class re gard the good opinion of good men far above the pecuniary emo luments of the office. A state blessed with such officials should generously bestow, as Georgia has always done, her appreciation and approval of official intergrity. This is not only an act of simple justice to the public servant, but also highly beneficial to the pub lic weal. Any other policy is but to blight official zeal, discount of ficial integrity and sow on the public mind suspicion and dis trust bordering on hatred and an -chy. “It is especially gratifying to ! as chief executive, and I trust it I may refer with pardonable ,ide to the fact, that during my dministration all the department government, including the public institutions, have been carefully examined and rigidly audited by legislative investigating com mittee and board of visitors ap pointed by the Governor. In not a single instance have these search ing investigations shown any of ficial recreant to the trust imposed. In these times of extensive wrong doing, if reports from others be true, Georgians may take inspira tion and comfort from the fact that tlieir public seryant are faith ful and true —and above even the suspicion of greed and graft.” NOTICE OF LOCAL LEGISLATION. Notice is hereby given as re quired by law, that at the next session of the General Assembly of Georgia, a bill will be intro duced and passed, with the follow ing title to-wit: An act to estab lish a local public school district in the county of Montgomery, to be known as the Soperton Public School District; to define the bounderies of the same; to regu late the management of the: schools of the said district; to ” provide revenue for said schools; to provide for the eleution of five trustees and to confer on them powers and for other purposes.
