New York, Jnn. 17.—After act ing tor more than twenty years ns preceptor and companion to Helen K* Her, the famous deaf, dumb and blind girl, whose accomplish ments in spit,, of her afflictions have astonished the world, Mrs. John Albert Macy, who was Anne Mansfield Sullivan, is herself los ing her sight. Hr. Enoch Henry Currier, head of the New York Institute for the Deaf, Dumb and Blind, has been long acquainted with both Mrs. Mucv and Miss Keller and said he had heard of the former’s condi tion, hut that it ha<l no selenitic significance. He had known casc.i, however, in which an instructor of the deaf and dumb whose hear ing was originallv normal had gradually lost it through constant association and the lack of proper speech sounds.
