I vailed here for some time. :i i families in this vicinity hav< l»et»n infected with the dis> aso.Kut all the patients have n<>w n* ally | r ‘covered, and pupils who have ■ tieen detained at home on aeoount »f measles ar- now xitr ituu t -chool work again; and m thi connection vour correspondent would remark, that though tin? •hildren who have been enrolled at our school have shown a quick i comprehension and a ready re sponse of mind and heart for good teaching, yet sad to say that in our community are large fami li< sos children of school age who ■ jha\ ■ md been enrolled a single ■ day at any school during this i term, though the children are np- I I parent ly a- bright and capable of taking an education as the more favored ones who have been at tending school regularly. Such a * . state ot all airs can be laid only to j the criminal negligence of oare * less parents who have no concern for the disadvantages their chil ! dren will have to experience in - future by their neglect, which al - lows them to grow up in ignorance . while tlieir neighbors’ children ■ may out-distance t hem m the race of lib—not through any natural , superiority, luit simply by the ad- I vantage of education over ignor ance and its usual attendant vice. Your correspondent will say I “an reyoir" for the present. Hope . to eseapo the waste basket, and to write again. A Pkarl. Alamo, Route 1. !' Spoil (’.in.opi.iulcnop.
