AGENT AT BLACKSHEAR HELD UNDER BOND. Blaokshear, Ga., July 15—J. O. Tillery, who was for a number. ~f years agent for tlie Atlantic ! Coast Line, was on yesterday checked short m his accounts, it is charged, and was arrested on a warrant sworn out by Mr. Me- Oaig, station accountant. upon the technical charge of larceny after trust. During the night he gave $2,000 bond. A discrepancy in the accounts, it is said, was discovered last week, and Tillery, ! accompanied by Auditor Farmer, went over into South Carolina in an effort to adjust, matters, re turning to Blackshear Tuesdnv, night, having failed, so it is said, in the accomplishment of his pur pose. Early yesterday morning Til lery’s dwelling was found to be on lire, but the fire was too iur advanced when the alarm was Bounded to save the building, and it, was quickly consumed with its contents. There was $1?,000 in surance on building and contents. A great, deal of sympathy is felt for Tillery, who has been very popular lu*re and who lias a great many friends. He says t hat lie j will be able to clear himself of the charge against him. No preliminary trial will be held. The railroad eompany shows no desire to unduly press f ile mat ter since Tillery is confi dent that he will arrange the mat- j ter satisfactorily. The apparent shortage amounts to nearly $4,000. How long the shortage has exist ed is not known, and it is under stood to have been kept covered by a system of “kiteing.” FRANKLIN ROYAL SHOT BY COUSIN.
