Johnson of near Glemvood brings to this office a remarkable snake story —not a story, but a fact. Monday afternoon, while out hunting near the place, his son, Mr. J. 1\ Couey, ran across two of the monster type The dog for some time, had scented them, and kept pointing in the usual bird-dog manner, until some ground had been covered. At last he came to a point, and could not be encouraged to flush, when to the surprise of the hunter, he was face to face with two very large rattlesnakes. He raised his gun and fired both barrels, clip ping off the heads of the reptiles. One of the rattlers had 1(5 rat tles .and the other 18. the containing a full-grown rabbit, together with other evidences of h igh i ivmg When first found, these snakes were at a spring, and when over taken were near their den, a gopher hole, around which the ground had been rubbed smooth. It is well known that snakes go into their dens long before this season, and their appearence in public on such a day as Monday was is something out of the usual to say the least of it. Some say that snakes drink and some say they are strictly tem perate, even keeping away from spring water and other soft drinks, but in view of the recent agitation on the near beer question in At lanta. Macon and Augusta, and the probable raise in the license, it may be that they had gone down to the spring for a final sip They did not seem to be familiar with the Jackanovilie r mte UNiIM ,lE:Tra Memi'ers of the FK <k l' of A will please take not 11l it the next meeting >-f c U will be held in Mount \ in 1 Friday before the 81 Su id c in December (10) at which rim- will be held the election of officers. Marshal McDaniel was instantly on the spot, and Livingston was arrested, wit bout trouble, and was hastily landed in jail. At 1 o’- clock this morning sleeping cit izens of this quiet little town were awakened by a terrible ex ■ plosion. Hurried investigation revealed that two export yeggmen had en tered the banking house of i Hank of Heard County, effected ■an entrance, and after using ni tro-glycerine, had opened t,he safe, making way with $7,901 in cold cash, going in a westerly di- J reel ion, probably crossing the | Alabama line, as this is one of the border counties in West I 1 (leorgia. That the robbery was skillfully planned, is shown by the wreck which followed their work and the ease with which they made their get-away without be |ing detected. The yeggmen had a fast team stationed just outside of the building, where they were doing midnight work. Wire messages were at once sent to all nearby cities and towns, so that any suspicious night travelers might be inves tigated wherever seen inthissee t ion. It is believed that the yeggmen finally caught an outgoing train early in the morning, and so all officials were advised to keep a sharp lookout for them, especial ly in Birmingham. The (leorgia Hankers’ Associa tion, through Mr. Hansel! Hill ycr, of Macon, assistant secretary of the association, offers a reward of SIOO for the arrest and con viction of the party or parties connected w'ith the Franklin bank robbery, this offer holding good for one year from this date. This reward is supplementary to the one of the same amount I offered by the casualty company jin which the bank was insured. Citut ion. <ii'Digiii- Viniilgoinery County VVlii'icim, Mis.
