this small outing we promise to
be good.

Asleep On Track; Killed.
Dublin, July 14. Webb Wyatt,
an aged white man, was run over
by a Macon, Dublin and Savan
nah freight train, Vidalia bound,
this morning about 3 o’clock near
the Palmer street crossing in
Dublin. His body was badly
mangled and he was dead when
pulled from under the cars.
The engineer states that he
saw the man lying on the track,
asleep to all appearances, a few
yards before the engine hit him.
The train was stopped as quickly
as possible hut not until after the
engine and several cars had pass
ed over the man’s body.
In the dead man’s pocket was
found a bottle of whisky, and it j
is believed that he was drunk i
and had set down on the cross
ties to rest, falling asleep under
the influence of the whiskey,
Wyatt was about 60 years of age
and is survived by a wife and
family. For many years he had
been doing carpenter work about
Dublin, but lately had been living
on the Hilburn plantation a few
miles from the city.

M’Naughton Affected
By Decision Os Court.
Savannah, Ga., July 12. Dr.
W. J. McNaughton, the Emanuel
county physician who is in jail
here under death sentence for
the murder of Fred Flanders, of
Swainsboro, by poisoning, more
than a year ago, was more visibly
affected by the announcement of
the refusal of the supreme court
of Georgia to grant him a new
trial on the extraordinary motion
than any news that has been told
him since he has been confined
here.
For a moment after he heard
the announcement he seemed be
wildered. The expression on his
face was one of almost despair,
although he declared that he still
, had hopes, and believed that he
would eventually he acquitted.
