Adams, a well known contractor of Vidalia, was a visitor her o on last Sabbath, returning on the evening train. Mr. W. B. Cadle, who operates a large mercantile business at Tarry town, was attending to business matters here on Tues day. Mr. J. B, Canady, one of Montgomery’s best farmers, came down to Mt. Vernon Tues day. Mr. J. B. O’Conner, special agent of the government who takes the gin reports, was here on his motorcycle Tuesday. Mr. E. McLendon and son, Oeorge, were visitors here on Friday last from the Soperton section. Mrs. Will Brannen and sister, Miss Clyde Wood, of Vidalia came up Friday to see Mrs. B. B. Wood, who is ill at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. I). W. Folsom. Mr. George Robertson of Erick was attending to business here on Monday. Judge Wiley B. Phillips of the Soperton section was here on Tuesday. Mr. J. W. Sharpe, Jr., of the growing town of Alston was at tending to business hereon Tues day. Mr. Tom Morris represented the lliggston section here on Tuesday. Messrs. Chapp Beacham of Dublin and C. L. Beacham of Laurens county attended the public sale of lands here this week. County Treasurer Gillis was here to make the boys glad on “the first Tuesday.” Messrs. George Hughes and F. B. Mcßride, two of our substan tial farmers, w’ere here on Tues day. Mr. C. A. Sumner of the city of Soperton came down to mingle with friends here on Tuesday. Mrs. Thad Huckabeeof Albany is here visiting the scenes of her girlhood to the delight of many relatives and friends. Mr. John M. Hughes has been 1 very sick for two weeks or more with lagrippe, but we hope to see him out soon. Rev. Chas. Montgomery is con valescent now after a severe at tack of lagrippe. One exaspera ting thing about the popular pas tor’s illness was the expiration of the quail shooting season while he was down. Read the Buick announcement of McAllister & O’Neal. They have the agency for this famous machine for Montgomery and i Toombs counties, and surely they will probably sell a number dur ing the spring. Postmaster D. E. Mcßae is in Savannah this week, serving on the United States court jury. Mr. Charley Frizzelle of Ailey is also on the Federal jury there. Do not fail to hear Prof. Tripp at the BrewtomParker tomorrow (Friday) evening, 7:30 o’clock. His coming will prove one of the best attractions of the season. Mr. G. A. Sammons of Soper ton was here Monday. He was accompanied by Misses Demaris and Alma Lee Miller of Rock ledge. Mr. Lamar Jones of Uvalda visited friends here Sunday. He is one of the prominent business men of that thriving city. Mr. John A. Thigpen of Soper ton was a business visitor here Tuesday.
