Sale of Mortgaged Property.
Georgia - Montgomery County.
Under and by virtue of the powers of sale con
tained in two deeds to secure debt, dated respec
tively, June 7th, 1911, and April 8, 1914, between
Benjamin Gillis of Montgomery County, Gcorfcia,
and the Calvert Mortgraire Company, of Baltimore
City, Maryland, which deeds are recorded in the
Clerk’s office of Montgomery Superior Court in
Book 14, folio 131 and Book 20, i
tively, the undersigned will sell at public outcry
before the court house door in Montgomery toun
ty, Georgia, on the first Tuesday in Januui v, 1916,
between the legal hours of sale, to the highest
bidder for cash, the following described property
to-wit:
All that tractor parcel of land situate, lying
and being in ihe town of Soperton. county of
Montgomery, state of Georgia, described as fol
lows:
1. Fronting the east side of Second street, now
known as Wall Street, 60 feet and running back
east the same width 150 feet, bounded a ‘ ! vs.
North by Mrs. Lillie Darby; east by \V. S. \\ oin:u!;;
south by Mrs. S. A. Sherrod; west by Second
Street, now Wall Street.
2. All that tract or parcel of land situate, lying
and being in the aforesaid town, county and state,
fronting the west side of Hamilton St reet 100 feet
and running back west from said street the same
width 150 feet; bounded as follows: North by W.
S. Womack, east by Hamilton Street, south by
Malinda Barwick; west by Mrs. S. A. Sherrod and
lot described in No. 1, being the lands whereon
Baid Benjamin Gillis now resides.
No. 1 being conveyed to Benjamin Gillis by Mrs.
S. A. Sherrod by warranty deed dated Jan. 80,
1911, and recorded in Book 16, page 49.
One half of No. 2 beiug conveyed to Ben iamin
Gillis by S. A. Hamilton by warranty deed dated
Feb. 9, 1911 and recorded in Book 16, papa 47, the
other half of No. 2 being conveyed to Benjamin
Gillis by G. W. Hamilton, C. W. Hamilton. Ext’rs
of the estate of Chas. S. Hamilton, by ExtYs de«*d
dated October 24, 1911, and recorded in Book 20,
page 313.
Said lands will be sold for the purpose of paying
the indebtedness of Benjamin Gillis to the Calvei t
Mortgage Company and the expenses of this pro
ceeding, said indebtedness consisting of two s<: «es
of notes, one of the series amounting to 56 in
number, each for the sum of $14.00, all dated April
Bth, 1914, the first of said notea due one
after date, the next five months after date, and
one each month thereafter until sixty months
after date, except the note due the eleven month;
the other series amounting to 21 in number, <£tch
for the sum of $11.66 except the last which is ft-;
$12.06, all of said notes dated June 7th, 1911, and
the first note due forty months after date, and o-'.e
each month thereafter until sixty months aft
date; all of said notes bearing interest at 8 per
cent from maturity. All of said notes not due in
course are declared due by reason of default in
those notes which have already become due, it be
ing provided in the deeds above referred to, as
well as in the notes themselves, that if either of
the same should not be promptly paid at matu
rity then the entire debt for which said notes were
given should at the option of the holder become
due and payable at. once, and that after giving
four weeks notice of the time, terms and place ox
sale by advertisement once a week ir. the newspa
per in which the Sheriff's sales of said county are
advertised, shall have authority to sell said proper
ty at auction at the usual place for conducting
sales at the court house door in said county; and
there having been default in the paynv.-nt of 1C
notes of the first series and 15 notes of the sec : 1
series, and said default continuing for 30day8, the
whole of said indebtedness is declared to be due.
The amount which will be claimed to be due by
the Calvert Mortgage Company on the first Tues
day in January, 1916, on the first series of notes is
the sum of $252.75 principal and interest, and on
the second series is the sum of $725.59 principal
and interest.
Said property will be sold as the property of
Benjamin Gillis, and any balance remaining after
the payment of said indebtedness and th*- expense
of said sale, will be paid to the said Benjamin
Gillis, or his assigns, and the Calvert Mortgage
Company will make to the purchaser a deed to

Will Try Griffin.
Waycross, Dec. 16. —During
this week’s session of superior
court it is expected that W. J.
Griffin, charged with killing
j Charles Inman near Manor, on
j.luly 7, this year, will be tried.
In the shooting Henry Inman
was seriously wounded and Miss
Addie Inman''received wounds
that nearly cost’her life. Griffin
himseif was shot twice, one bul
let fracturing his left arm and
the other nearly severed a finger.
The trouble was at Griffin’s
home, and followed a dispute,
so it is alleged, the Inmans and
he had about Miss Inman. Self
defense will probably be the plea
of the defense. Owing to the
prominence of all parties involved
the trialKwill" attract a large
crowd and'may'prove one of the
most sensational Ware has known
in years. Griffin was arrested
near the’seene of the trouble by
Sheriff Pittman and has.been in
jail most "of the time. For a
while lie ,was in a local hospital.

and H. B. Braddy, Sr.; arid on the west by lands
of James O’Conner and C. H. Calhoun and lands
commonly known an the J. H. O’Conner home
place, and being the tract of land conveyed by
warranty deed from James O'Conner to J. B.
O'Conner May 26th, 1911, and recorded In the
clerk's office of the superior court of said county
May 29th. Book 16, page 77. Said prapurty found
In the possession of and levied on and will be sold
as the property of J. B. O'Conner to satlssy an
execution issuer! from the City Court of Houston
County, Ga., in favor of American National Bank
of Macon, against E. 11. Holland, J. 15. O’Conner
