I Pythian Notes | Proceedings of Regular Meeting Held » by Pythian Literary Society The Pythian Literary Society held its regular meeting Saturday afternoon. The society was call ed to order by the president, af ter which the following program was successfully rendered: Song—Society. Piano Solo—Miss Smiley. Reading—Grace Bush. Violin Solo—Sue Lee. Debate: Resolved, That the Government Should Control the Telephone, Telegraph and Rail road Lines of the United States. Affirmative—Eugene Truitt and Ben Brewton. Negative—W. B. Underwood and Lester Hattaway. Jokes and Wants—Katharine Currie. Mr. Hughes Will Not Accept Appointment. His many friends throughout the state will be delighted to know that Hon. Dudley M. Hughes, of Danville, Ga., former Congressman from this District, has been appointed a member of the Vocational Education Board by Gov. Hugh Dorsey. Owing to other business ar rangements he could not accept the place and has declined it. Mr. Hughes would have made the board a strong, influential member and is thoroughly fa miliar with the vocational educa tion act, as he introduced and worked for the bill which was passed by Congress.—Twiggs Co.
