VERNON, GA. 1 1 Church Destroyed By Fire Atlanta. —Fire, thought to have orig inated from a defective furnace, par tially destroyed the roof of All Saints Episcopal church, 256 West Peachtrei street, damaged the magnificent pipe organ, the handsome memorial win dows, the chancel, walls and fixtures in the church, totaling a loss of ap proximately fifty thousand dollars. Es timates of the damage varied among officials of the church, but an averagt of these figures placed it at abeul fifty thousand dollars. All loss is fully covered, $75,000 of insurance being carried on the church. Savannah Shriners Plan Big Events Savannah. —W. Freeland Kendrich of Philadelphia, imperial potentate o) the Mystic Shrine, will visit Alee Tern pie, Savannah, on February 16, com ing here from Daytona, Fla. The tern pie is also planning a pilgrimage to Americus on January 19 as one ol the events on its winter card of spe cials. About 100 shriners will make the trip to Americus. Free Camp Ground For All Tourists Griffin. —At a meeting of the Gris fin and Spalding county business men committees were appointed to at one* arrange the details for establishing an ‘‘auto camp ground” for tourists The committee, which consisted o) the officers of the county fair associa tion and four other business men, met immediately afterward and selected the fair grounds as the location foi the camp ground. Irwin Will Ask For Clemency Atlanta. —After serving two months of a year sentence following his con viction of voluntary manslaughter in the Fulton superior court last Novem ber, Rush Irwin, who shot and killed J. George Moody, in July, of 1919, will ask for executive clemency within the next few days, it became known at the court house. Owners Os Autos Slow In Paying Tax Atlanta. —Owners of automobiles are following the same course that they have pursued in former years in de laying to make application for tags until towards the expiration of the period, when the law says they must have them in order to run their cars, Secretary of State McLendon stated Head Os Education Board Making Tour Atlanta. —Dr. Wallace Buttriek. pres ident of the general education board of New York City, arrived in Atlanta from New Orleans. Doctor Buttriek was accompanied by Dr. Abraham Flexner and Travor Arnett, secretaries of the board. The party is making a few weeks’ trip through the South.
