ORGANIZING A
COTTON MARKET
Field Organizer Will Work
in Each Cotton County
in State.
Atlanta, July 7.—There will be
a Field Organizer working exclu
sively on behalf of the Georgia
Cotton Growers’ Co-operative As
sociation, which is promoting the
famous California Plan for cotton
in this state, in every cotton
county or group of counties of
Georgia, within the next thirty
days, it was announced by Direc
tor of Organization A. A. Elmore,
Wednesday morning.
The move* is a part of a plan
for the immediate expansion of
the Associations campaign which
was decided upon at a big meet
ing of the State Organization
Committee and a number of
County Chairmen of existing
county campaign organizations
held in Atlanta on Tuesday.
One of the most important de
velopements of the meeting was
announcement by chairman Bar
rett that the Finance Committee
has secured funds, the lack of
which has greatly handicapped
the work up to date, to make the
proper development of the cam
paign possible from now on.
There are some thirty volunteer
county committees in existence,
which will be doubled in the hith
erto unapproached portions of
the state within the next few
weeks, and these will have the
assistance of a Headquarters Or
ganizer, permanently located
with them, in a great Sign-up
drive to be staged among the
cotton growers during lay-by time
between the last of July and the
first of September. These Field
Organizers will be by preference
local men of reputation and stand
ing. Director of Organizotion A.
A. Elmore is now on the lookout
for such men, and those who are
interested in taking up this work
are requested to get in communi
cation with him at the Head
quarters Office of the Association
,408 Walton Building.
In spite of handicaps, reports
turned in at the meeting showed
great progress has been made in
the sign-up work already: Hart
county alone has signed over
three thousand bales to date, sev
eral other [counties being close
behind Hart in the returns.

This project embraces several
thousand acres lying adjacent to
Muckalee Creek, in the section
between Myrtle Springs and
Americus. John R.'Laumies has
been elected as engineer to direct
the project, and bonds will be is
sued to defray the expense. J.
E. Poole, R. D. Moore and Thom

commissioners as project view

completed and filed, the project
ors will make formal application
for incorporation in Sumter Sup

Much of the land proposed to
be reclaimed is regarded as rich

the rapid development of the hog

will afford unusually valuable
pasturage.

will begin as soon as the bonds
are floated and reclamation plans
completed.
