The board of county tax equalizers met at the court house last week and began their task of going over the tax returns for 1922. The board is composed of Messrs J. M. Meadows, | B. F. Wolfe and J. L. Linder. The hope that taxes may be lower ed next year is practically the unan imous hope of the people of the coun 1' ty. Judging from numerous express i ions heard from citizens, many of whom state that the burden of taxa -1 tion has grown so onerous as to over ; shadow every other public question. It is also the general belief that ■ the high (levy of last year will not be necessary for the coming twelve month, but whether the eqalizers | will see fit to raise or lower values as returned by taxpayers remain? yet j to be seen.
