the Vidalia girl scouts enjoying the

Misses Mary Kate' Shuman, Louise
Mathews, Lucile Frederick and Joyce
Sikes, who have been attending the
G. N. and I. C. at Milledgeville,,
returned home last week for the sum
mer vacation.

Prof. Albert M. Gates, the new
president of Brewton-Parker Institute
was in the city Monday. Mr. Gates
has moved to Mt. Vernon and is ac
tively at work toward a big attend
ance at Brewton-Parker next year.
Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Martin, their
daughter, Miss Lucile Martin, and
son, Hunter Martin, of Fayetteville,
N. C., spent several days here last
week, guests of Mr. and Mrs. V.
B. Herring.
Mr. and Mrs. N. W. Swindell,
who are now located at Florence, S.
C., spent Tuesday and Wednesday
in the city. Mr. Swindell will spend
the; coming week in Louisville, Ky.,
and during his absence Mrs. Swindell
will visit relatives at Eastman.
Mrs. Etta Brantley and daughter,
Miss' Dorothy Brantley, left Wednes
day for Chicago, where they will re
side. Missßrantley graduated at the
South Georgia College this month,
winning a medal for excellence in ex
pression.
Mr. C. J. Whatley will leave next
week for Barnesville to attend the
wedding of his sister, Miss Sarah
Whatley, to Mr. Roy Swatts of Bar
nesville, which will be solemnized on
Wednesday. Miss Whatley is pleas
antly remejnbered here, where she has
often visited her brother.
Dr. Thrash, a well known special
ist of Atlanta, spent M°"day in Vi
dalia, having been summoned for a
consultation . with local physicians
over the condition of Miss Claypool,
who is desperately ill at the Vidalia
Hospital.
Mr. Julius Peacock, who has been
named * postmaster for Vidalia, will
leave on the 27th to attend a post
masters instruction school which will
be held in Atlanta. It is expected
that it will be after July Ist before he
takes charge of the local office.
Dr. T. C. Thompson of Vidalia,
Dr. I. F,. Aaron of Lyons, Dr. J. W.
Palmer of Ailey and Dr. O. B. Moye
of Soperton motored to Cochran on
Wednesday to attend the meeting of
the Twelfth District Medical Associ
ation. They report a delightful ses
sion. Hawkinsville was selected for
the next meeting place.

Potato growers in the neighborhood
of Vidalia were greatly disappointed
with the Irish potato crop this year,
owing to the adverse season, the yield
being a disappointment.
Two carloads weer shipped, and
while the crop was disappointing,
most of the growers will try the crop
again next year.

siciation enjoyed the District Rally 1
last Friday. The program was good, ‘‘
especially the Vidalia Sunbeam dem- 4
onstration and the Pageant put on ij
by ten of the Alamo ladies. A real j
nice lunch and ice tea were served 1
during the noon hour.
The circles met at the following 4

All members are urged to come to 3
