Miss Dolly Nobles of Claxton has returned home, after a few days visit with her sister, Mrs. M. P. Dukes. Drs. Hall, Odom and Aaron of Ly ons were visitors to the hospital Wed nesday. Mrs. Theodosia Donovan of San dersville is visiting relatives in the city this week. Dr. Wallace Daniel of Claxton was a vistor at the Vidalia Hospital Wed nesday. Miss Lucile Lynch of Augusta is visiting her mother, Mrs. M. I. Lynch at the hospital. The services at the Baptist church Sunday will be in charge of the church choir. Friends of Mr. J. C. Timmerman will regret to learn that he is ill at his home on Jackson street. Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Stanley moved Wednesday to their new home on Jackson street, which has just been completed. Mrs. J. E. French left Wednes day for a ten-days visit to Rev. and Mrs- N. H. Williams and Judge and Mrs. W. E. Thomas in Valdosta. - Mr. P. J. McNatt recently sold his handsome home in Mt. Vernon and expects to move to Vidalia around the first of Sepfember. Mrs. Emanuel HackcJ and Miss Lena Bluestein, who have been vis iting Mrs. Joe Hackel, left Sunday for their homes. Mrs. W. B. Haynes left last Fri day for Fitzgerald, where she joined Mr. Haynes for a week’s trip to Brunswick, and St. Simon’s. Master James Dukes has returned! home from a visit to his grand-par ents, Mr. and Mrs- D. J. Nobles, of Hagan. Dr. Jas. K. Hall of Cedar Crossing moved this week to Lyons to secure better school advantages for his chil dren . Mr. E. L. Tanner and son, Claude, of Douglas were in the city Sunday. They were en route to Brevard, North Carolina. Dr. and Mrs. H. C McDermitt and three children of Okeechobee, Fla., and Mrs. O. P. Oodman and son of Sparks were week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Threlkeld. Mrs. McDermitt and Mrs. Oodman are sis ters of Mrs. Threlkeld. THURSDAY, AUGUST 24, 1922. Mr. S. B. Ivey, who has been with the local office ot the Southern Bell Telephone Co-, has been transferred to Savannah and will leave the last of the week for his new work. _| - ; Painters are at work renovating the interior of the Darby corner, for merly occupied by the postoffice. Mr. Lester S. Sharpe will open a drug store at this location at an early date, • - - i-|.. a.-., Mr. Eugene White, son of Ordinary E. D. White of Dublin, has purchased an interest in the Eord agency at Mt. Vernon from P. J- McNatt and moved to Mt. Vernon last week to make his home at that place. Cliff Poe has accepted a position with the Union Grocery Co. as trav eling salesman, succeeding Will Ma con, who resigned recently to accept a position with the American Special ty & Importing Co- of Savannah. Mr. Macon will travel in Florida. Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Murchison re turned last week from their wedding trip and are guests of relatives here. They will leave Monday for Metcalf, where Mr. Murchison will have charge of the school at that place the com ing year. The offices of the J. F. Darby Lum ber Co. will be moved to town the first of the month. They will be lo cated in the rear of the Darby build ing on corner of Church and Mead ows streets. Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Langston, who have been spending the summer here visiting the latter’s parents, Dr. and Mrs. W. F. Peacock, left last week for Wake Forest, N. C. Spurgeon Peacock accompanied them home and will enter Wake Forest College this fall. Enoch Hall was brought to th'e Vida lia Hospital Wednesday for treatment. He is suffering from a pistol wound in the left thigh, his pistdl being ac cidentally discharged while on a fish ing trip last Friday. Miss Julia Wicker is hav/fhg a de lightful trip to points of interest in Europe, the first of this month having been in Italy, visiting the ruins of Pompeii, Florence and enjoying a 200 mile auto trip through Italy. Misses Eudine Meadows and Abbie Mathews entertained at a tackcy party last’ Friday evening at the residence of Mrs. J. P.. Warthen. Prizes for the tackiest couple went to Miss La dye Meadows and Mr. Garland Wil liams. A number of the young peo ple from Lyons were present and the evening was greatly enjoyed. BOY SCOUT NOTICE. Important 'scout meeting Monday night at the club house at 8 o’clock. All scouts are urged to come. Those who went on camp will receive their boxes of chocolate.
