JO THE PEOPLE
OF GRADY
We are having, a
number of exhibits listed for the
Fair every day and we are ex
pecting more to come for this
week and next. The grounds are
about completed and we will be
gin on the stalls the latter part of
this week. The tents have been
arranged for, the judges have
been selected,’ the musical and
amusement features have been
contracted for, and all the pre
liminaries will be made in the
next few days. The degree of suc
cess we have at this, our first fair,
is going to be determined largely
by the interest shown on the part
of the people. It takes exhibits
to make a fair, and we hope that
the people will busy themselves
for the next few days in urging
their neighbors to take part. We
have decided to extend the time
for entering exhibits a few days
in'order to give others a chace,
but all exhibits should be listed
with the Secretary not later than
.Tuesday of next week in order
that we may have time to send
out the cards for exhibits and
prepare places for the exhibits.
We .wish to emphasize another
feature of the fair.. , We have
asked all people who can to bring
relics or curios of any nature
that will interest the people, such
as old firearms, old family keep
sakes, garments made long ago,
in fact, that anything out of the
ordinary to interest and instruct
people. A card qf explanation
should be attached to all such rel
ics for the information of the
people. As an example of what
we mean by the foregoing, one
lady has agreed to bring a piece
of LYE SOAP made during the
Civil War.
We wish to call the attention
of the people to another matter.
Let all the small exhibits come
already prepared for exhibition,
that is boxed and arranged so
that there will be nothing to do
except to place it on the shelves
prepared for that purpose. This
will give the exhibitors the ad
vantage of being able to arrange
their own exhibits. Of course
this will not apply for all exhibits,
A full programme for the fair
will appear in the papers next
week. For full information and
premium lists, write the Secre
tary, J. S. Weathers; Cairo, Ga.
