In Europe
Wo cannot say that we syrapa*
time with Germany in the terrible
conflict now raging lit Europe,' be
cause they have been from t he
commencement of trouble the ag
gressors, but we must admit that
until the Verdun affair, Germat y
has played a winning hand, and we
cannot help bu(, udrnire Ihofr brav
ery and determination.. • v
The very victories gained though,
have weakened Germany in men
and capital, and in our opinion a
few more months., will show the
Allicsin the ascendancy as tH'ey have
very evidently been playing a wait;
ing gome.

Carranza a chance to protect Amer

lie was powerless to do so, sent a
punitive expedition into Mexico

withdrawn until Villa is captured
or proven dead beyond a doubt,
otherwise their object would not be
tceomplished.
Killing a few Mexicans and dis
persing a few bands of Villistas
