Messrs. Chas. A. Dean and J.

accident last week when a widow
fell on his hand bruising and cut¬
ting it, but we hope not seriously •
He is getting along all right now.
Mr. W- S. Dobbs has returned
from Rome where he shipped a
car of apples and reports the mar¬
ket fairly good.
Yes, we have a barber shop in
East Ellijay now.
Everybody invited to attend the
Hallowe’en play to be given at the
school building here Saturday
night. A nice time is expected.

some improvements made on the
lot he purchased from Shippen
Brothers.

As we arc- nearing the lime to
make a decision who shall take
charge of the affairs of the coun
cy, and as I am not able to see
near all the people so I give you
some more of my views on the
good road move I am sure we
can have better roads by making
some changes in working them
We should at least have two pair
of-good mules with the necessary

ing roads, keeping them well
worked and work all the cross
roads so the public can get to the
leading roads giving ever> section

roads, making every day count,
and make all the roads passable
This I mean to do if the good peo
pie see fit to trust me w ith tin
affairs of the county. I shall ust
every effort to improve it in everj
way and with the best possible
care. So, if I don’t get to set

2 nd, and shake your hand, it is
not because I don’t want to. So
go to the polls and cast your bal¬
lot for the best interest of your
county and people. I close with

ed in the Masonic Hall, destroy¬
ed the Masonic Hall with about
half of the stock of goods of U
G. Wheeler, who conducted a
general store on the lower floor

the Pickens County Progress,
the ware house of Richards &Co.,
with part of its contents; the of¬
fice of Dr. F. C. Richard, and al¬
so set some other buildings, but
these sustained only minor dam¬
age. A rat and a match are sup¬
posed to have started the fire
