Patterson having re tired from the position of city edi tor of the News and San, which he lias so efficiently filled for the past couple of years, it is once more assumed by Col. R. L. Duke, with whom our readers are well and pleasantly acquainted in that ca pacity and any favors shown him will he appreciated. Wallace, of Hampton, were happily united in marriage at the home of Mr. and Mrs. D. T. Stone, last Wednes day afternoon, Rev. Tom Brown of Fayetteville, officiating. Their many friends wish for them much happiness. Mr. and Mrs. G. C. R. O. JACKSON. While The Weekly man was on his rounds Tuesday he ran upon a political item of interest as to a candidate for the legislature in the person of Col. R. O. Jackson, one of the younger members of the lo cal bar. Upon being questioned Col. Jackson stated that numbers of his friends had mentioned the subject to him and that he had con sented to make the race for repre sentative in the lower house. Mr. Jackson was hern and reared in Henry county, the son of Rev. John A. Jackson, a well known Baptist preacher in the eastern pari of the county. Having received only a common school education, after attaining his in ajor i t y . through his own efforts, lie attend ed the McDonough High School, under Prof. O. E. Ham, and la ba the literary department of Mercei University.
