Not for a long time bus McDon ough been so sadly shocked and every heart tilled with intense and poignant sorrow as on last Satur day morning when it was an nounced that the Resistless Reap - or had claimed Mr. Levi A. Tur ner at his home here after an ill ness of only a few hours from pa ralysis. About 9 o'clock Friday night he was stricken with paralysis and from that time until his death at 9:80 Saturday morning he grew weaker despite all that loving hands and medical skill could do. He was one of the town’s most loved old oilmens and less than a day before he lay in the icy em braces of death he was mingling with his friends on the streets of the town, cheering and blessing everyone whom he met by his bright and sunshiny presence. Mr. Turner was horn May 9tli 1846, being in his 62nd year at the time of his death. He was a brave and gallant soldier and fought va liantly for his native Southland. He was a man that was prominent in his church, having been an offi cer in the Methodist church for many years, and in all the affairs of his county and state that looked to the betterment of its citizens he was always an active exponent. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Mr. F. C. Turner, of Pitts burg, Pa., and Mr. R. L. Turner of The Bank of Henry Countv ; three daughters, Mrs. J. (1. Craft, of Hartwell, and Mrs. H. R. Meal, and Mrs. E. M. Smith, of this city ; three brothers, Mr J. B. Turner, of Macon, and Messrs. H. C., and W. A. Turner, of this county and three sisters, Mrs. Peggy Ann Far garson, Mrs. H. C. Daniel, and Mrs. F. E. Dunn, all of thisconnty. The funeral was held from the Methodist church, on Mondav morning at 10 o’clock, Rev. J. E. England, officiating, and the inter ment was in the ci liken’s Cemetery. One of the largest funeral proces sions in a long time followed the remains of this popular citizen to bis last resting place. “Uncle Wesley” Ford Bead. Mr. C. Wesley Ford, one of the; old and highly esteemed citizens of Henry county, died at the home of bis daughter, Mrs. George Ford, of near Whitehcuse, en Sunday \ night after a lingering illness from the infirmities .of old age. “Uncle Wesley.” as he was af fectionately called, was jnst 81; years old at the time of his death, i He was a most excellent man. He was a brave and .gallant soldier in the lost cause. Ho is survived by his wife and three sons, Messrs. M. D. Ford, J. T. Ford, and Wm. Ford. The funeral services were held by the Masonic fraternity and the interment was at the old family burying place at the Bov,den bury ing ground.
