Capt. Flynt.'s was the first organized,
and first, to leave McDonough.
History tells us that a braver set of boys
never wore the Gray, than Flynt’s com
pany, nor a regiment more gallant than
the 19th fought during the war.
“ORDERLY GREEN.”
Here and there, over Henry
county and other places, are a few
more members of Company 8.,
Humphrey's Cavalry, who have
many times answered “here" to
the roll call by him whose name
appears above. And hv us this
name is held in loving memory,
and we have been made to bow our
heads in grief to know that our
ranks have been broken again;
this time it was “Orderly Green"—
a good soldier, a kind officer, and
one who was loved and respected
by all his comrades.
The call was sharp and quick,
but we who knew him in war as
well as in peace, feel sure that it
found him on duty, and that Lis
answer to the Great General was,
i “Ready I'll follow where Thou
, commandest!"
As our ranks grow thinner be
l low, we live in the bright hope
that all those comrades who shar
ed the hardships of war with us,
j are joining the ranks above, where
j war will be only a memory, and
hardships will no more be known,
} and wLen the last battle of life is
fought, and each brave soldier
shall lav his armor down and
“when the roll is called up yon
der," that each loved comrade
may answer “here" and not a
name be missing.
