With- Our County Correspondents. LOCUST GROVE. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Brown nnd little J. W,, Jr., left last Sutimluy for Marshallvillo for a ten days’ visit. Mr. Marian Sandifer, of Jackson, is filling Mr. Brown’s place at the Bank during his vaca tion. By odds the heaviest rain of the season here about 3 to 4 o’clock last Monday afternoon, literally leveling the surface of the earth many places. The condition of Dr. Clift' Ellis •was not much changed at this writing, while that of Mr. Jack Brown was a little better, though sorry to note that Mrs. Brown In.s developed a case of fever. I learned that the Upper Ten, the Four Hundred and the Forty Twos of this place and surround ing community spent the day Mon day somewhere on the river below here fishing. I did not learn nor did I inquire what success they had, but guess they got all they went for, with the red bugs thrown in free for the scratching. A few more rains and the corn orop will be safe and from present indications cotton is bound to com mand a high price the coming fall. Truly all things work together for good to them that love the Lord. I think if I mistake not that The Weekly intimated seme weeks ago its intention to keep its readers posted as to the efforts of our rep resentative senator in the ■General Assembly. I should like that as I have but little time to post myself. However, I had the pleasure of meeting Hon. R. C. Brow’ii last Saturday. He infoim ed me that he had introduced a bill providing for an annual tax of $2.50 a head on dogs, also provid ing that the revenue raised there by should go to the public school fund. While I differ with Mr. Brown just one “0” as to the a mount of tax called for vet it seems that tlie bill, of which be showed me a copy, is a step in the right direction, especially when vve take into consideration the pro tection to human life, the enlarge ment of the school fund, the pro tection to the game of the state and improvement of the class nr.?, quality of dogs this bill would car ry with it. Though I would much rather see it pass with an amend ment by adding one auglit to the amount of tax, making it read $25 00. This would reach the aris tocratic dog and save a lew mere hens’ nests and slop buckets and thereby’ help the pigs. And now who will he fust to frame a hill which will reform our marriage laws in such a way as to prohibit the marriage and inter marriage of such as create the ini biciles and weaklings, who are not mentally and physically qualified to provide for a family. Think how rapidly the intermarriage of such are degenerating and lower ing the physical and mental aver age of the human race. If you want to hear anything more on the dog question just let me know. Unidentified. liowel Complaint in Children When six months old the little daugh ter of K. N. Dewey, a well known merch ,ant of Agnewville, Va., had an attach of cholera infantum. Chamberlain's Colie, Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy was given a.nd effected a complete cure. This reme dy has proven very successful in cast s of bowel complaint in children and when given according to the plain printed dir ections can l>e relied upon with perfect confidence. When reduced with water And swee-ened it is pleasant totaKe, which is of givat, importance when a medicine niugt’be given t<> young children. For e>ale by Horton Drug Co.
