Registration List A Roll of Honor. r v.'p, lc \vp rvtoiMioTird the n< rmssi 4 ■of onr h'.-ing some reg is* ration Ihvv, in orcLr to elimni lito tho corrupt and ballot. There is an additional induce r .'n‘ for registering held out to oar heroes of battle and theirdos coudants, a roll of honor is provi ded for th en, to he complied from the registration list. In addition to tho other qualifi cations, any one ol" which shall ec tit’e a n an to register, there is provided another for these brave veterans and descendants, in sub divisions 1 and 2. of Paragraph 5 as follows: “A. 1. All persons who have hon orably served in the land or naval forces of the Unitod States in the revolutionary war, or in the war of 1811, or in the war with Mexico, or in the war with the Indians or in the war between the states, or in the war with Spain, or who honor ably served in tho land or naval forces of tlie confederate states or of the state of Georgia in iho war between the states, or “All persons lawfully descended from those embraced in the classes enninerated above. Paragraph 5 provides that the right to register under this soldier and descendant qualifications shall oontinue only untill January 1, 1915 ; hnd that a person once reg istered under these qualifications never has to register again if he keeps his taxes paid, etc. This Paragraph further provides; • The registrars shall prepare a roster of all persons who register under subdivisions 1. and 2. of Paragraph four, and shall return the same to the Clerk’s ofiiee of the Superior Court of their coun ties and tho Clerks oi the Superior Court snail send copies of the same to the Secretary of State, and it shall be the dbty of these officers to record and permanently pre serve these rosters.” This roster is in onr opinion one of the wisest provisions of the act. It might hupp n that without this precaution the day would come there would remain to us the names of but fe w whose privations and hardships in warfare have saved for us 1 his great country as a heritage. And .nay not youth here appeal to age and insist that all the he roes of the sixties who yet bless! ns with their presence will at once j placet; or names on this honor 1 roll, ere they depart to attend the j eternal reunion in the skies of all j their comrades in battle. And the descendants t<?o should gladly do themselves the honor of placing their names beside those of their worthy ancestors. And maybe, in a distant fu ture, when naught remains but their soldier sires’ names this roll will bo incentive enough to in spire their proud progeny to like lives of service and glory, whether the conflict be bloodless or amici shot and shell. The time limit for registering is very near now and we urge all to hasten and register. For Sale. A good second-hand two-horse wagon. R L. Turner Notice. FOIt CONGRESS. lam a candidate for renomination to the office of Representative in Congress from the Sixth District in the primary election, which, uud'-r the law,, will he held next August. I believe that my record as iv Represen tative, of which I invite the closest scru tiny, justifies me in saving thm I hove discharged every duty nnu obligation to the people who have honored me with J that high aVd sponsible office. Tin rim i the entire period of my service in the House, 1 have been fucid by a Republi can majority, strongly adverse in senti ment and policy to the best inter sts the people of my section, but my record hero will delis mstr.ate that in every word 1 have spoken arid in every vote 1 have cast. I have had an eye single to the hon or and welfare of the people I represents Whether my, duty as a Representativs ha* called me to resist the lnsiduons at tempts t hat are being constant ly made to undermine the sovereign dignity of the State, to oppose the encroachments of organized monopoly upon the rights and substance of the people, or to defend the institutions and glorious traditions of our own section, I have responded to that call with all the force and vigor of my being. As the Representative |of a free people. I have denounced tyranny in whatever form it has appeared, and ac tively participated in the movement to wrest the control of the House from the arrogaut despotism that has been erected in tiie people’s forum by the Speaker and his Committee on Rules. My record in this and ail other matters will most con clusively show that I have never on any occasion faltered or hesitated in the course of duty dictated by perfect loyalty to my constituents and party. Believing that my longexjierience will enable me to serve more efficiently the people of the District in the next House, which, from all Indications, will he Dem ocratic, and with grateful appreciation of their support and confidence in the past, I ask a renomination at the hands of my constituency. C. L. Bartlett. To the people of the Sixth Congressional District: 1 am a candidate for Congress subjec to Democratic nomination. In this announcement 1 will not un dertake to incorporate my entire plat form, but cannot refrain from sayinU that as a member of Congress I would strenuously oppose all extravagant expenditure of the people’s money and all unnecessary and burdensome tax ation. and every effort made to en croach upon “states rights’’ and would stand unflinchingly and unfalter ingly against all laws in conflict with the principle “Equal rights for all and special privileges to none.” I believe that this should be in reality as it is in theory a goverment of the peo anle, by the people and FOR the people As your representative I would devote to the duties of the office my time, my en ergy and whatever of talent L have and requests from any ritizeu of the District however humble he might be would re ceive prompt and Careful attention. If elected I will enter u peril the discharge of my dutit s without pledge orpromise to any man or set of men but absolutely free and Independent to do my full duty as God gives me the light to see it.
