What, you may a ,fe, has pro

broom sage inlo almost a picture
of paradise? Tim cause is simple
co, _,n and easily discernible.
n io Central has furnished acoom
ol Cion trains, with neb frequent
♦'ips to and from Atlanta, that
a man can exist.- maki his living
in the city—and live in the conn
t y, almost being a bio to luncli as
well as sleep at home.
Now the teiritory between At
lanta and McDonough lying on
the Southern Railway is but a
few miles longer and offers even
more ind better natural sites for
residences than the Central's ter
rit .ry between Atlanta and Jones
boro.
Hat all this vast extent of happy
home sights is still baro and bar
ren as a wiltinorness and silent of
life
Why so?
The answer is hs simple as the
accounting for the fortunate situ
ation on the Central. The reason
is in policy of the Southern Rail
way Company oi ignoring every
int< rest of the local travel on its
lines.:;nl cf juJ-ringly giving such
tr- ad evi u ‘ privilege, at its

T o Couth ‘.-.i is not content,
hov-ewr, merely t-o oppose our in
terests passively but they must-do
so actively jiow by depriving us
of the only trail which brings the
daily paper to ttie farmer on the
day of publication, ami thus also
keeping us av. * from Griffin,
Luo 11 a, and tin mwoed in the day
time. .
And they h-ive made current the
ide-' that they desire to do this in
order lo put in off ct a double dai
ly s ■ ■ ice for Fayetteville and
oth i A. and F. to ns. They
may intend to do this, hut not for
the ason that it will serve the
A. and F. towns.
Little the Southern cares for
them or their interests.
The distance between Atlanta
and Williams oi via McDonough
is s >:n * f >\v -nUes longer than it is
via Fayetteville.
Fayetteville and other A. and F.
* owns arc now m king a good
showing to the ran road Commis
sion why they should have the
doable aaily service instead of the
measly one train a day they now
have.
The Southern fears they are go
ing to be successful.
The Southern probably believes
this train operated over the A. and
F. would pav as well as it pays
now by going via McDonough.
The Southern has put its micro
scopic calculator to work and
found that it will cost them a few
cents less in expense to operate
this train over the 45 miles of
the A. and F. than over He LI
miles via McDonough.
