Bethany Locals. 1 he revival services which were begun here on the 4th Sunday, came to a close on last Sunday at 11 o’clock. The church was grea tly revived, much interest being manifested at every service, and good attendance was had at every service. The pastor Rev. I. G. V» alker of Decatur did the preach ing, and delivered some of the most forceable and interesting sermons ever hoard at this place, i here were six accessions added to the membership of the church, 4 by experience aed 2 by letter. The ordinance of baptism will be ad ministered next Sunday the 7th inst in the afternoon at 4 o’clock. Rufus Rodgers, son of J. P. Rodgers, was bitten by a highland moccasin snake last Thursday, which came very near resulting seriously. He went to feed a mule, and while shucking corn, the snake struck him, fastening his frangs in his right hand. A physi cian was called in and quick medi cal aid was given. His friends will be glad to learn that he is already recovering, although his hand and arm is in a serious condition at this writing. A dog belonging to Mr. Babe Lane, who lives just east of iiere, went mad Sunday and attempted to attack some of the family but fortunately he was killed before lie did any damage. A number of dogs in this section were recently bitten by a mad dog, and several have already shown signs of the rabies.and have been kiiled. Al ton Sowell, son of W. R. Sowell, wrs recently bitten by a mad-dag and is in Atlanta at the pasteur in stitute taking treatment, and there is a strong sentiment in favor of a wholesale slaughter of dogs in this, vicinity. Ihe Ola and Porterdale base ball teams played a'live game of ball on the latter’s grounds Satur day afternoon resulting in favor of Ola. The score being 3 and 1. It was a fast game from start to finish being a battle royal between the pitchers on both sides. A fea ture of the game was the pitching of Combs who gave up on'y two hits in a ten inning game. Porter dale scored 1 run in first inning and Ola 1 in third inning which was a tie until! the 10th inning when Ola scored two more runs. Batteries, Combs and Bowden for Oia, Stone for Porterdale, Umpire Porter. George W. Jenkins of Alabama and Jack Jenkins of South Geor gia spent several days around their old home here last week.
