[Prom the New Tork American, June 4. 1910.] Pastor Russell, president of the Peo ples Pulpit Association, was yesterday presented, for Christian mission work, the fully equipped and seaworthy Angel, a naphtha and sailing yacht. She is about 12,1 feet over all, has.seat ing capacity in dining saloon for seven ty persons and is prepared for main deck meetings in fair weather. As indicated by Pastor Russell iu his acceptance of the vessel, unique work will be undertaken in New York har bor. It is said the meetings on board the Angel will be advertised from day today, stating her moorings as well as the language of the speaker Thus all who desire may keep in touch with this witness of the “gospel of glad tid ings to all nations.” “Fortunately, my friends, this gift is not wholly a surprise to me,” said Pas tor Russell in accepting it. “1 had intimations and was in touch with some of /you respecting the Angel. Nevertheless I am at a loss for fitting words w herewith to express my appre ciation of your ioving zeal in following a suggestion I dropped respecting the soul needs of the sailors of ail nation alities visiting this great port. “Ret me, then, briefly say I accept your gift, not in my own name, but in the name of the Peoples Pulpit Asso ciation—as its trustee, if you please. May the Angel always and in every language sound forth the praises of the God of all grace! A MISSIONARY SCHOONER. One Was Presented to Pastor Russell For Harbor Work. [From the New York Times. June 4, 1910.] Tiie Rev. C. T. Russell of Brooklyn received a surprise on his arrival on the Cunard liner Lusitania yesterday. Ilis friends presented to him a two masted schooner for missionary work in and about this port. They not only gave him the receipt for the craft, but she was waiting alongside the Cunard pier with many flags flying as a welcome to her new owner From one mast to another was strung a long canvas bearing the in scription “God Is Love” and the name of the schooner, the Angel. There were other inscriptions of a religious character waving in the wind. Crocodiles mid the Cure. One does not usually connect croco diles with a health resort—rather the reverse—but the creature*; are quite a feature of the Indian bathing place of Manghapir, about uine miles from Ka rachi. This town is a place of pilgrim age for pious Hindoos, but it is chiefly famous for the value of its waters in the cure of the dread scourge of lep rosy. The waters are hot. and more than 00 per cent of the sufferers who bathe there annually, it is said, are cured. The crocodiles are rather note worthy in that they live in the hot water, apparently suffering, no incon venience from its temperature or me dicinal qualities.—Wide World Maga zine. BACK FROM PALESTINE. Pastor Russell’s Return From Visiting Holy Land and Egypt. [From N. Y. Herald, Sunday, June 5. 1910. j Pastor Russell of the Brooklyn Tab ernacle has returned from a trip to the Holy Land and Egypt and will address the public today at the Brooklyn Acad emy of Music. Mr. Russell has cer tain interesting ideas regarding the Great Pyramid and its symbolic teach ing and believes the time is at hand for the return of Israel to Palestine. He is a very pronounced believer in the Zionistic movement. The present is the second visit to the Pyramid and to Palestine, the land once Israel's. In one of his works pub lished more than twenty years ago Mr. Russell applied certain measurements of pyramid passages, an inch for a year, as symbolically showing the length of divine favor upon the Jews from the time they became a nation down to the year A. D. TO, when Jeru salem was destroyed ana the Jewish polity ended. In the same work he declared also that certain passageways symbolically indicated the length of time during which the nation of Israel would be cut off from any and all special mani festations of divine fevor. and when this would end the favoi of God would again return to them.
