Dumas spent the w'eek end at and ■ near Monticello. Saturday night occurred th e Philosophian reception. Th i s event had been eagerly anticipated by the students since the holidays. The halls and chapel were beauti fully decorated for the occasion! Cream and punch were the re freshments served. The young people were given full sway until the wee sma’ hours. Just how enjoyable the evening was only the walls know and they are silent. The Knights of Pythias’ banquet Saturday night was the crowning social event of the week. The masonic hall was beautifully dec orated. Ferns, American beauty roses, and potted plants converted the large room into a bower of loveliness. The viands were truly fit for the gods. Mrs. A. L. Colvin and Mrs. Pitts were respon sible for the success of the ban quet here. The following toasts were responded to: by W. A. Adamson, “The Guests”; by P. M. Cousins, “F. C. B.”; by W, L. Arnette, “The Banquet”; J. B. Turner presided as toastmaster. To Correspondents.
