Alwyn Wilson went over to Social Circle Saturday to see his sister, Mrs. John Upshaw. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Harris went up to Atlanta Friday. Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Griffin en tertained a number of their elder friends at a dining Friday. Those invited were: Rev. and Mrs. J. E. England, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Tur nipseed, Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Harris, Mrs. W. A. North, and Mrs. W. C. Edwards. Miss Sylvania Schlomberg, of Jonesboro; was the guest of Mrs. W. J. Harris Sunday. Mrs. W. Z. Henderson spent Monday in the Capitol City. Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Sowell an nounce the arrival of a nine pound boy on April 11th. On Monday evening, the 17th mstant, Mr. Ralph Bingham wall entertain here in his usual capti vating manner. He will nP doubt have a crowded house, and Hamp ton is fortunate in securing him. Mrs. W. J. Harris entertained a few of her friends at a 6 o’clock dinner Sunday evening. Those invited were: Miss Floy Smith, of Hampton, Misses Julia Harper and Sylvania Schlomberg,of Jones boro; Messrs. Will Gilbert, Ed McMullen, of Jonesboro, and Geo. S. D. MaLaier. Teachers Elected. At a meeting of the Board of Trustees Monday morning, the present faculty were re-elected. The school during the past year has been a credit to Hampton and community; the teachers have lab ored to get the very best results possible, and thv.y have accom plished their end. Mr. Jack Brown, of McDonough, passed through here Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hood, of near Mt. Carmel, visited the Misses Hood Thursday. Mrs. Sam Foster and daugter, little Miss Odell, and Miss Eva Fields visited friends and relatives in Tunis Sunday. Messrs. R. L. and W. M. Berry, of Clayton, were here a short while Thursday. Mrs. J. The ladies of the Ladies’ Aid society of the Baptist church met at the home of Mrs. H. G. Fields Thursday afternoon. The purpose of the meeting was to make the summer clothes of a little boy at Hapeville Orphans’ Home, who is being cared for by the society. After the labors were over, Miss Janie Fields served a delicious lunch in their spacious dining room. Those present were: Mesdames J. A. Oxford, J. L. Pritchett, W. A. North, E. H. Hair, H. G. Fields, J. W. Stephens, R. A. Griffeth, J. L. Moore, and Miss Minnie Moore. An Easter Egg Hunt. On Saturday afternoon the children of the Sunbeam society of the Baptist church and the children of the Juvenile society of the Methodist church will have an Easter egg hunt at the Baptist church. Nash-Raven. On Sunday afternoon at the home of Rev. S. H. Griffin, Miss Birdie Nash, of Lovejoy, and Mr. James B. Raven, of Hampton, were united in marriage. Mrs. R iyen is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Shaw Nash, and has a num ber of friends who will miss her from their circle. Mr. Raven is a young man of sterling qualities, being connected with the Central of Georgia railroad for a number of years as agent at Hampton and Lovejoy. the former’s daughter, Mrs. Clar ence Strickland. Mr. W. L. Burch spent a short while in McDonough Tuesday morning. Mr. W. L. Pair went to Atlanta Monday. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Burch spent Sunday with relatives near Salem. Mrs. Jonce Branan and Miss Fannie Brannan were here a short while Thursday afternoon. Misses Mattie and Maude Steph ens, of Clayton, visited the Misses Hood last week. Dr. Smith, of McDonough, made a pop call here Monday afternoon. Mrs. Rosa Lawrence and Miss Starr, of Stockbridge, were here a short while Thursday. Mr. Louis Phillips and Miss Les lie Smith were out riding Sunday afternoon. Mr. L. L. McMullen, of Jones boro and Mr. Ennice, of Atlanta, passed through here Thursday. Dear Editor: We greet you this day with another glad and bright smile, wishing you all success. School life is but once; and for a few, it will soon be over here. Miss Hall has returned from Warrenton, where she was called on business. The commencement work is progressing rapidly. Miss Lennie Thrasher was guest of her sister in Jackson last week end. The tenth Algebra class are still digging on the quadratic equa tions. Any assistance given will certainly be appreciated. Misses Elizabeth Nolan and Annie Lemon were guests of Mrs. Benning in Edgewood last week. Mr. Jerome Cook visited his parents in College Park Saturday and Sunday. Miss Myrtice,spent a few days last week in McDonough,the guests of Mrs. Clarence Harris. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Brantley passed through here Thursday. Misses Vanie Hood and Dennis Fields spent a few days last week in Atlanta and East Point. Mr. White, “the Watkins Man” made a pop call here Friday. Mr. and Mrs. M. Foster, of near Mt. Carmel, spent Thursday with the latter’s mother, Mrs. Cora Fields. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Glass were in McDonough a short while Mon day. Mrs. Emmet Touchstone and Mrs. Ballard were here shopping Friday afternoon. Several from here attended preaching at Salem Sunday. Mrs. L. Pair and charming little daughter, Miss Rozelle, made a business trip to McDonough Thursday. Mr. John Johnson and sister, Miss Cora, were here shopping Monday afternoon. Mr. T. H. Fields was a welcome visitor here Thursday. Mrs. Henderson and children, of Stockbridge, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Moseley. Mr. J. K. Hood spent Monday in McDonough. Messrs. J. R. Price and T. E. Touchstone went to Atlanta last Monday. Little Miss Virgie Glass spent Saturday and Sunday with home folks. S. K. N. Singing at Bethany Church. There will be a singing at Beth any church, four miles east of McDonough, on the 3rd Sunday in April, in the afternoon. The song service will begin early in the afternoon, and a number of prominentmusie leaders have been invited. Music leaders are re | quested to bring their books. Everybody is cordially invited. Mrs. Henry Britt and children and Mrs. Ruth Roberson, of At lanta, are the guests of Mrs. Sallie Branan this week, Mr. Britt spent last Sunday here. Mrs. Tom Heath, of Atlanta, is the guest of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Shields. Mrs. Rosa Lee Ellison is the guest of relatives in Atlanta. Two box-parties have been given in her honor this week. The Gen. Joe Wheeler Chapter, U. D. C., had a delightful meeting with Mrs. John Ward Wednesday afternoon. The chapter is greatly encouraged in the library work. Donations and new books are coming in constantly. A beautiful lot has been purchased for the building, and the grounds are to be improved this summer. Woodstown. Mrs. J. T. Lumus gave a quilt-j ing last Friday, which was highly 1 enjoyed by a large crowd of ladies, especially at the dinner hour. Mrs. Swann, of Conyers, were the guests of Mrs. John Adair last week. Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Avery were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Lummus Sunday. Mrs. J. T. Lummus had as her guests for the last week-end Mrs. Hope McDonald and Mr. and Mrs. Dowman Almand, all of Conyers. Mr. W. C. Woods made a busi ness trip to Union City Monday. Master Paul Shields was the guest of Master Branan Ward Monday and Monday night. Rev. W. 0. Butler went to At lanta Monday to arrange for- treat ment at a sanitarium, and expects to go up twice a week from here. Rev. Joseph James will preach at the Presbyterian church here the fifth Sunday at 11 okdock in the morning. Mrs. B. C. Ward and Mr. W. C. Swann were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Augustus Swann last Friday. Misses Florence and Felecia Morrison were called to the death bed of their uncle, Mr. Charlie Gresham, at Jackson, last Friday. Mrs. Mary Nash, of Locust Grove, was the guest of Mrs. W. T. Nottingham this week. Mr. W. W. Ward and little daughter, Madeline, were here Monday. A. P. S. Winter came back Saturday night. Neighbor J. W. Jackson gave us a call Sunday morning. Messrs. J. E. Andrews and Alonza Strawn and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Bledsoe and children spent Sunday afternoon with us. The meetings promised Mt. Bethel Saturday by Revs. Debar deleben and Carey were held, but it was toe rainy Saturday, and too cold Sunday for me to get out in my condition. Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Wilder, of Ola, came down and spent Thurs day afternoon with us. W. B. Simpson called by Mon day, while onEis way to Coving ton. Elm Grove. Miss Alice Hinton was the guest of Miss Flavella Owen Thursday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Grady Morris vis ited Mr. and Mrs. J. Conkle last Wednesday night. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Turner visited in Stockbridge Saturday afternoon Mr. and Mrs. 0. N. Conkle and little son, Levi, visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Hayes, Satur day night and Sunday. Mr. J. C.
