LETTERS FROM OUR COUNTRY FRIENDS. C ROWDED OUT LAST WEIEIK. Pine Grove. Quite a large crowd from all around here attended services at Ozias Sunday. Mr. Doc Welch, of near Bethany, attended the singing at Bethany Sunday. Miss Kate Stallworth has re turned to her home after several days visit with friends at Griffin. Miss Alice Thompson is teaching a class of music at Mr. Jim Cow an’s. Mr. Tom Sims and family spent Monday night with his brother, Mr. Adolph Sims. The tent meeting at Ola came to a close Wednesday. Much good was done, as there was a large crowd out at each service. Mr. Will Patterson and family spent Sunday with Mr. Auto Joy ner and family. We are sorry to note that Mr. John Miller is seriously sick. We hope he will soon be better. Mr. Dan Morgan and wife passed through Ola Sunday. Mr. Walter Thompson, of Mc- Donough, attended preaching at Ola Sunday. Mr. James Craig and wife spent one afternoon last week with Mr. Cammie Craig and family. Mr. Henry Joyner and family were the guests of Mr. Carl Crow ell and family Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Earnest Rodgers and little son, Ham, returned to their home at Hampton after spending several days with friends around Ola. Let’s hear from all the corres pondents, and make The Weekly one of the best papers. Rosebud, Jenkinsburg. Miss Jennie Bowden is visiting Miss Gertrude Rich this week. Misses Nellilu and Melba E’Dal go have been visiting friends and relatives here for the past week. The ice cream supper given by Misses Alma and Elsie Thurston last Saturday evening was enjoyed by all present. There is a singing school going on at County Line Church. The death angel visited the home of Mr. Walter Moore last Friday and took from them his precious mother, Mrs. Annie Moore. She leaves many friends and relatives to mourn her loss. A. B. C. The Garden Spot. Mr. Editor: The farmers are all smiles on account of the good j rains, which we ought to be very | thankful for to our maker. The grand old 4th has come and gone. A large crowd was out ; at Mt. Carmel, and some very fine singing. Everybody behaved 1 nicely. Mrs. Tom Turner is dead. A good woman gone. She will be greatly missed in this community and at the church. Mr. Jasper Pendley and Joe Pendley came over and spent the night with us, and made some of the finest music it has been our pleasure to listen to in a long time. Come again gentlemen. Our Bro. E. P. Mays came over and spent the day with your the other day. Also our old friend and neighbor, J. W. Barnett and lady, from McDon ough. We had a very pleasant day. We are in hopes we will have many more opportunities of meeting together, visiting one another. Mr. Sid Hart and family, of Clay ton county, were welcome visitors for two days in our community last week. Prof. Long leaves for Ellen wood Monday, where he goes to teach school. He is a fine teacher and a good neighbor. Mr. R. W. Exum has the finest piece of corn of any one in this community. Bob has few equals and no superiors when it comes to making corn and cotton. We are in hopes of Governor Hoke Smith being elected to the United States Senate and that Joe Brown will be elected governor. Our kind man, Mr. Billie Cope land, made us proud the other day by visiting us. Come again Billie, you are always welcome. We hope our Editor a pleasant trip to New York and a safe re turn. Our friend and neighbor, Mr. Bart Ballard,left for Alabama Sat urday, where he goes to accept a job with an insurance company. We regret to lose him, but hope him much success. Mr. W. E. Touchstone has a very sick child. We are in hopes she will soon be given her health. We are in hopes that all the correspondents to The Weekly will give all the news as they have in the past, and make The Weekly what it has always been, one of the best county papers in the State. We hope for all the corres pondents a happy and prosper ous future, and also that they will write every week. Phillippi. Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Bailey is vis iting relatives in Elberton this week. Miss Julia Glass was the charm ing guest of Miss Eva Fields Sat urday night. Mr. and Mrs. Lucius Johnson, of Jonesboro, were the guests of Mr. Turner Johnson and family last week. Mr. and Mrs. Otis Fields were the guests of Mrs. Cora Fields Sat urday. Several from around here at tended meeting at Ozias Sunday. Miss Dennis Fields was the guest of her aunt, Mrs. Clarence Harris, of McDonough, Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. B. O. Fields were the guests of Mr. Joe Johnson and family Wednesday. Mr. Dudley Fields spent the week-end in Atlanta. We are glad to note that Miss Fannie Hood is better at this writ ing. F. E. L. Happy Happenings. Plenty of rain, and crops are looking fine and the dear old laying-by times will soon be here, and the old protracted meetings too. Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Stanfield and Mrs. Jjine Banks and Misses Lillian and Susie Stanfield, and Mr. W. T. Stanfield and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Dorsey attended the singing at Lovejoy last Sunday afternoon, which was good. Several were there who helped lead from Mt. Carmel and Liberty Hill, and Mr. Ira Callaway, of Lovejoy. Mrs. Bird Bright is visiting her aunt, Mrs. R. F. Stanfield, at this writing, and she also visited Mr& Ida Callaway and Mrs. Jewel Cal laway. We are glad to note that Mr. Tom Pendley is improving slowly at this writing. Mrs. Turner, of Hampton, is vis iting her daughter, Mrs. Mattie Stanfield. Mrs. Turner is very feeble, but is stout to her age. The protracted meeting at Mt. Carmel will start on the second Sunday in August. Everybody is invited to come and help in the good work. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Banks vis ited Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Stanfield last Tuesday and Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Harvie Barnett visited Mr. and Mrs. Jim Stephen son last Sunday week. Mr. R. F. Stanfield made a busi ness trip to Griffin last Thursday. Mr. W. A. Callaway went to Griffin last Thursday to do some brick work. Mr. Powel Lee will sing at Lib erty Hill next fourth Sunday after noon. Everybody is invited to come and hear him. The pro tracted meeting will also start on that day, and everybody who can come and help us in our meeting. On last Thursday night Mrs. Lela Dorsey had a sisters’ reunion. There are five of them, and they were all together at the home of Mrs. Dorsey, and they all rejoiced together. Mrs. Hattie Campbell and her daughter, Miss Lela, were the guests of Mrs. W. T. Stanfield last Wednesday. Mr. Miles Campbell and lady attended the reunion at Mr. Cliff Wise’s on last Wednesday. Pearl. Greenwood. Mr. R. R. Roan and family at tended the general meeting at Luella Saturday. Mrs. R. B. Steel and children, of Morrow, are visiting her sister, Mrs. J. 8., this week. Mrs. R. B. Roan called on Mrs. J. B. Sowel Sunday. Mrs. W. T. Bates and daughter, Miss Willie, passed through here Saturday on their way to Luella. Littie Ethel Copeland spent Sat urday and Sunday with her uncle, P. R. Martin, at Luella. Mrs. J. .B. Sowel visited her brother, Mr. Charley Hammons, of Griffin, last week. Miss Mattie May Sowel and Ed die Still attended preaching at Luella Sunday. Mr. W. E. Copeland and family visited P. R. Martin and family Sunday. Mr. J. B. Sowel and Emmett Dorton went over to Hampton to the all-day singing Sunday. I guess that everybody has had rain by this time. We sure have had good rains in this section for the past week, and everybody seems to be revived. Rev. Debardeleben and others are having a good meeting at Ola this week. It is so nice to see so many good people assembled to gether to worship One that is so good and kind to us. May God’s richest blessings rest upon each and every one. Mr. and Mrs. W. T. St. John vis ited Mr. and Mrs. Ranee Wilson, near Jackson, Sunday. Mr. Nolan, of near the big dam, was a caller on Mrs. Miilie Jackson Sunday. Mr. T. B. Connor and family at tended Mrs. Connor’s father’s birthday dinner at Jackson Mon day. We hope for Mr. McMichael many more happy birthdays. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Lane were called to the bedside of their aunt near High Falls last Friday. They report her in a serious condition with little hopes of recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hardy, of Snapping Shoals, were the guests of Mr. W. M. Grady’s family Sat urday and Sunday. Little Miss Mary Nail spent the past week with home folks. Mr. Johnie Polk, of Jackson, who is employed to paint Mr. J. E. new house, spent Saturday and with home folks. Mr. and Mrs. R. W.
