JOHN R. SMITH Happy Happenings. Fodder pulling is the order of the day. Mrs. Delia Crawford, of Dothan, Ala., has returned home after a few days visit to her daughter, Mrs. Ida Callaway. The ice cream supper at Mr. Kaleb Bright’s, which was given in honor of Mr. Gene Wynn and Miss Essie Barnett, was quite a success. There was a goodly number, only 54. There were many enjoyable games played in the moonlight and some good singing also. Mr. Tom Pendley has returned to his home in Macon. Mrs. Nevie Stanfield was the' guest of Mrs. Ida Callaway Wednesday. Mrs. Grady Medlock died at the home of Mr. Henry Medlock last Wednesday morning. She leaves a husband and one child to mourn her death. Mr. and Mrs. D. L. McLendon visited relatives in Hampton Fri day afternoon. Miss Evvie Stone was the guest of Miss Mary Jim Wallace and several -others around here last week. Miss Monnie Mays is staying at the home of her aunt, Mrs. Lila Mays, attending the singing school. The singing school is still flour ishing. Mr. and Mrs. A.M. Mitchell were the guests of the latter’s parents last Saturday nighfc. Rev. J. E. England closed his protracted services at Mt. They will be baptized next first Sunday. Mrs. Carolire Dorsey was the guest of Mrs. Caroline Stanfield Thursday afternoon. Mr. Maxie has returned home, after a few days visit to his sister, Mrs. R. H. Chinn. Mrs. Jewel Callaway is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Campbell, of Riverdale. Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Campbell and several others of Riverdale, at tended the barbecue at Liberty Hill Thursday. Messrs. Paul Lewis, Champion and Cline Stan field, and Henry Lee also attended. Mr. W. T. Stanfield visited Mr. Paul Lewis and several other rel atives of Riverdale and East Point and Morrow Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Mr. Jim Smith has returned home, after a few months’ stay in the Gate City. He is a welcome guest. The barbecue at Liberty was a success. Mrs. Wynn and her daughter, Miss Ruth, visited friends and rel atives at Sandy Ridge and Mc- Donough last week. We regret to note the misfor tune of Mr. Gideon Banks, who stuck a thorn in his foot and is suffering very much. We hope he will soon be well again. Mr. Will Barnett is all smiles over a new visitor —a boy. The little infant of Mr. Grady Medlock, who was very sick, is improving rapidly. Mr. and Mrs. Wood Medlock are visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Medlock. Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Stanfield vis ited Mr. D. E. Stone Sunday. Mr. Watson Stanfield visited Mr. D. E. Stone Sunday. Mr. Watson Stanfield visited them Thursday night. Mr, Stone has improved a great deal. We fegret to note that Mr. Em met Tarpleyjs confined to his bed. We hope he will soon recover. Mrs. Bird Bright passed through here today going to visit her father, J. T. Wallace, of Fairview. I am afraid if our editor don’t make haste and come home we won’t get to have our fish fry. Miss Snodie Clark visited the Gate City last Wednesday. Mr. Ben Walden, from near Stockbridge, was in Rex last Thursday afternoon. Well, the reunion that was at the Rock on last Tuesday was en joyed by a large crowd. Mrs. Walter Estes and little sis ter, Miss Polly Brittain, were out riding Wednesday. Miss Odessa and Myrtice Dease left today for a trip to Monroe, Ga. Guess they will stay a week. Mr. Ed Mays, from Stockbridge, was in this town Friday. Rev. W. 0. Butler and Sam Haynes came to Rex Thursday. Mr. Zenomia Patillo and Mrs. Mollie Camp and children took dinner with Mr. Will South and family last Thursday. Mr. S. W. Barr made a business trip to Atlanta Saturday. Mr. Will James, of near Tan ner’s church, passed through Rex Saturday. Mrs. Lena Jarrett and two sons visited the Gate City on last Sat day. Fig Tree.
