Sloan and little son, of Atlanta, are the guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Atkin son, Mr. Ben Morris, who lives three miles out on the Peachstone Shoals road, has sold his farm to Mr. Grover Russell and will move to Barnesville. Mr. Morris is a good citizen and a fine farmer and Henry county regrets to lose him, but wishes him well in his new home. Mr. and Mrs. John R. Smith and family spent Sunday with Mrs. Smith’s mother, Mrs. Moseley in Love’s district. A window full of Alarms, 50 cts. to $2.50 at P. B. Cheek’s. Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Fields knd children, of near Mt. Carmel, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Copeland Tuesday. Miss Birdie Cagle, of Atlanta, is visiting Mrs. S. M. Oglesby and Mrs. Mary Alexander. Miss Annie May Atkinson, of Atlanta, is at home with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Atkinson, for a few days. The ladies have been well re membered by the Copeland-Tur ner Mercantile Company in the improved arrangements in their store, which they have just com pleted. They have provided the ladi s a rest room where they can come and rest, remove the travel dust, etc., from their persons and clothing, and then find the many bargains which this enterprising concern offers them. Carmichael has as J her guests Miss Bessie Thomas, of Waynesboro. Miss Ellene Neal left Tuesday to visit friends at Thomson. From there she will go to Hartwell, where she will be the guest of her aunt, Mrs. Jack Craft, until Octo ber. Misses Ruth Turner and Hattie Sue Low returned from Atlanta yesterday. Miss Singie Minims, of Atlanta, is expected Saturday to be the guest of Mrs. B. E. Horton. Miss Anna Riviere, of Thomas ton, arrived Wednesday night for a visit to Miss Lucy Reagan. Misses Claude and Freda Tur ner, of Hampton, are the guests of Miss Carrie C. Fields. This issue of The Weekly con tains the application for charter of the McDonough Mercantile Com pany. Messrs. J. M. Carmichael, W. E. Russell, J. T. Sowell and J. P. Etheridge are the incorpora tors. It is a strong concern and will be ready for business in the Masonic building by September 15th. Miss Louise Thompson,of Atlanta, arrived Tuesday for a visit to Miss Lucile Tolleson. Misses Agnes and Helen Dunn returned home Wednesday from Talbotton and Warm Springs. Messrs. Benton Thompson and Tymon Bowden made a business trip to Hampton Tuesday evening. Mrs. Lila Copeland and son, H. J., are on a visit to Griffin. Mrs. Tom McKibben and little daughter, Caroline, have returned to their home in Eatonton, after a two months visit to Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Daniel. Miss Mary Lewis, of Atlanta, is the guest of Mrs. John R. Smith. Miss Irene Price, of Flippen, was a most welcome guest of friends in McDonough Tuesday. Miss Ethel Price is spending a while at Indian Spring. A committee from the North Georgia Conference, composed of Rev. J. H. Eakes, Rev. W. T. Hamby, and Rev. Olin King, of McDonough, and Rev. J. R. Allen, of the Griffin circuit, will hold a meeting in this city to day for the purpose of examining applicants for license to preach, and applicants for admission to conference on trial in traveling connection. —Wednesday’s Griffin News.
